First of all hi (first post here;been reading the forums for long, but never acutally posted)

I just started using the editor a couple of days ago ... I still have a looong way to go to learn how to use it well, but its great ... My first 'map' was acutally my room, nothing fancy, just builded a room with a closet, a bed and a pillow, my desk and the monitor on top :), never really worked on textures ...

Now I stared making my first real SS map ... Im using the editor that came with the SE (I have both games) ... First of all what exactly makes the game recognize a map as a multiplayer map (fragmathc/scorematch), coop, or custom/singleplayer map? In other words what do I have to do besides the obvious of adding the enemy, enemyspawners, etc. entities to make my map multi/coop/or singleplayer?

Also I was going to use some of my mp3s for the levels, I added a MusicHolder in my map and then browsed for the mp3 in the button below the entity, but I aint hearing no music, I have tried putting music on low, medium, hard (entity options) and nothing ... Any ideas?

Well thats it for now ... Hope you can help ...

Since Im here I just got to say ... Wow ... I have had both SS:FE and SE since the day they came out ... The serious engine is just great, and the tools are even better ... Its amazing all the cool things you can acomplish with both ... I love taking a demon or one of my other favorites baddies and just making them huge with the Stretch Multiplier option ... Its just amazing how the games manages to stay with fast/smooth framerates ... And dont get me even started on how many baddies I have seen on screen, with only maybe a hick-up or two, but nothing more ... Anyways ... Thanx Croteam ...

Later all ... :bomb:

Your right the tools are great.

As for music/sound I'm not sure on the valid formats on FE mp3's were fine but I think SE uses .ogg's. There are some posts about this. If I were not so lazy I'd put links to them.

Co-op and such like there a few things, first certain enties can be flagged to only appear in certain game types. That way you could set up a single map that would play diffrently depending on the type of game selected. Second....Damn I just forgotten what the thing is called. I'll have to look that one up.

Hope to see some maps from you soon, don't forget to post up some pics in the showcase so that we can all drool over them.

One of the things one must do is go into the World Settings (see globe button in tool bars), supply a narrative name in the Level name field and check the appropriate E,N,S....S,C, etc. boxes (easy, normal, serious.... single, coop, ......).

.... and always add a MusicHolder.........here's Iirion Claus, with an explanation of why

MusicHolder (Iirion Claus)

- a crucial element that should be included in every Serious Engine map. While the basic use for the holder is to set the current music for the game, one should be aware that it is also used to store many other statistics, such as total number of enemies and secrets in level, current PlayerMarker to spawn at on cooperative, and others.

Yeah I read about the post of the ogg files for the music, but they didnt say anything (or at least that I can recall) that this is the only format for music in SE maps, so Im going to covert my mp3s to ogg to see if it works ...

And about the world settings ... Doh ... I didnt know/realized what all those individual characters where (N=Normal, etc) :) I guess I have some more reading to do on the editor ... I downloaded that Step by Step, Poing by Poing (or whatever) file about using the editor ... But right now Im 'working' :) so I cant get into it just yet ...

Thanx for the replies ... I really apreciated ... Cool/helpful community ...

Later ... :bomb:
