Not quite spread out properly when playing on the harder settings. I noticed that between tourist and easy, there is practical no difference. As soon as you try normal. Things happen very differently. When you start on the lower settings, your health is higher(200) AND items such weapons, health, and armour are given to you in greater concentrations. And the enemies are nowhere near as numberous as in the normal setting. Actually, its almost impossible to die in the lower settings. In the normal mode, I was dying every minute. And at one point, couldn't get pass the end point of this one level. Too much of a jump between lower settings and the medium to higher ones. My one nitpick of the game.

You should see him when he gets all liquored up.  He's pathetic yet humorous.  His liver is so pickled that it has the shelf life of a twinkie.

Normal mode is "Normal" you have to use some tactics (running in circles) to avoid dying, but you can make it very far in normal without dying.

Normal is how Croteam intented the game to be reviewed and played.  Tourist is just an introductory, practice mode.  If you thought normal was hard, try getting "Serious".

In the test2 I don't die much in Serious mode (in coop) if I run and jump around in circles.

I agree. Normal is alot tougher than is "normal" it's more like "hard" -- definitelty playable you'll die alot unless you're a total twitch-monkey. Easy is way too easy. I would have liked a setting somewhere between those 2. I'm playing thru on normal and sometimes it gets pretty frustrating because of difficulty.

There are some things you can try.
I don't know the commands, but there are ways you can type in changes at the console to change things like enemy strength, etc.  If someone would be so kind as to post them here, you could then enter these at the console and make a sort of custom difficulty level.

OK Htown, here they are:
You can invoke the God mode by hitting F1 to bring the
console down and type "please god"   (don't put in the
quotation marks).  Hit enter then F1 to go out of console
and you are invulnerable.

To attain a graduated level of invulnerability, in the
Game_startup.ini file type in:

        gam_afDamageStrength[2]=0.1;

In this entry, the number in the square brackets is the
level number: [0] is tourist, [1] is easy, [2] is normal
and so on.  The value after the = sign is the actual damage
to be taken.  0 (zero) is the same as God mode. 0.5 is
half, etc.  Make sure the semicolon is the last thing
on each line.

Hope this helps.  Good luck.

I have no intention of using cheats. Never have while playing through a game, but it does seem that the game's normal setting is designed with a little more difficulty than other games. Call me picky but normal settings to me was another game's hard settings. I will try again but for now......

Hmmm, Im having little difficulty at Normal.  It seems normal to me and the others that I heard who are playing at normal.  Just be wise with what weapons you use to shoot particular enimies, and also look for the secrets, allot of times there is healt powerups.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I just finished playing through on Normal with a friend of mine. It was my first time through the game and I didn't find it very difficult until we were over halfway through, then it got a little tough. I think you were just spoiled by playing it on easy
