Hey. I'm new to the whole Serious Sam community, but I'm really liking it now that I'm here. I just started mapping, and while the editor is so far easy to use (or at least, easy to learn to use), there's a few issues I can't grasp. I just want to ask one here: I set up a platform to raise when you step on a certain section of floor, and spikes stick up through you. I put a touchbox around the spikes, and a damager to do the damage. When the spikes come up, and you walk on them, you die. Perfect. However, if you stand still, and let the spikes come TO YOU, then you don't die, and you can walk around within the hit box. How can I solve this problem? Also: Where do babies come from?

Most likley the touchfield is staying where it is so you never move into it and dont take any damage. I dont really know how to fix this though. I dont think a touchfield can also be a moving brush. Maybe parent the touchfield to the spike moving brush? Anyone else know?

For the player to activate a touchfield, he MUST walk through it. if it comes to him, nothing happens.
And, actually, you are doing the spikes wrong :D To have the spikes be on a moving brush:
1) Make the moving brush, and parent the spikes model on top of it.
2) Make a solid block the size of the spikes overlapping the spikes, and add it to the moving brush. Now, make the same block, but mark the room flag ON and add it. This leaves you with two sectors: and outside one and an inside one.
3) Select the inside sector by either (i think) clicking the top of the moving brush in sector mode, or by pressing shift + RMB whle inside the spikes. Press 'q' when you have the sector selected.
4) Under the Content pulldown box, select Spikes.
There you go! working spikes that kill the player!
EDIT: Happy, I got what you where trying to say! That IS where babies come from :D

Okay, I got the part about the touchfield not working if it moves into something. Understood. But Diego, that method you suggested is not working. I make a seperate sector encompassing the spikes, set it's content to 'spikes', and it does not kill me. Yes, I have it's parent set to the moving platform, so I know that it's moving up and I'm entering it. Now I'm really confused. I appreciate your help, but it's just not working here. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Can you offer any other solutions, or a more detailed explanation, in case I'm missing some step you consider obvious?

OK, i'll try a simple explaination.
Make a MB with too much on the top of it. then, right after you make it, cut off the top part of it with a room. this is your spike sector. click the top of the moving brush, and that should select that sector. Set it to spikes. And when you want the player to get killed, make sure the spike sector COMPLETELY ENVELOPES the player.
I can't think of an easier way to put it. THe morte experience you get, the easier it will become. If you still can't get this, continue the rest of the map, and come back to it later. It gets easier, trust me.
