I have 2 questions for you guys.
FIRST, what's the difference between sector environments? I mean those big room, open space, corridor etc. etc.
SECOND, do the detail textures slow framerates? Is it harmless to use them always?

FIRST, perhaps relates to acoustics/sound during game play (I'm just guessing)
SECOND, don't know. You're asking about the various layers of textures for polygons? Or about setting brushes as "detail"?

Actually, the both. But ORIGINALLY I meant the detail textures for the second layers.
I'd sure like to know the differences between detail and non-detail brushes too.

Firstly, you always want to put detail textured on the third layer, so that if you want to turn off details if will work properly. It does slow it down... but its not really noticable. (to me)

Michael is right.. on EAX supported sound cards, the acoustics will change with an environment.
