Hello,

I recently bought SSSE and i am very interested in creating some levels to play, the only problem is my skills with the Serious Editor only go about as far as the basic room tutorial. I was wondering if anyne might have created or seen a tutorial that covers level creation from start to begining, including guides on how to create, water, fire, particle effects, fog, terrain, spawn points, doors, subtractions, rain/snow, grass, moving domed sky, and all of the other cool stuff that this engine can do. If anyone knows of a tutorial like this I would greatly appreciate it if you would tell me.

Thanks,

Laidin

There is not any one single tutorial that will cover all of this....... but there are plenty of tutorials and other materials to get you started.

Check out the tutorials here on Seriously! (www.planetserious.com) and on Serious Editing (www.massassi.net/serious). Serious Editing has one titled Basic Mapping.... and another called Hello Serious WLD (and a followon... Hello Serious WLD #2) that might be places to start.

Be sure to at least skim the entire contents of the editor's help.... lots of good info there.

And download and at least skim through the Serious Editor: Item-by-Item v0.34 help/doc that is available on both sites...... on Seriously! it is available in Downloads - Miscellaneous..... on Serious Editing it is available in the downloads area.

Finally, get familiar with the search and advanced search facilities of the forums (see upper right hand corner)..... by which you can search the mapping forums for words/topics of interest. Odds are that someone will have already encountered and discussed questions and topics that you need answers to.

Pace yourself. Editing can be both fun and frustrating. Work at it, but then get away from it, so as to not burn out or get overly frustrated. Sometimes it helps to sleep on it.

Good luck. Have fun.
