Argg... after finding out my lava cave i worked so hard on for 3 hours cannot be rendered when the player is outside of that worldbase, i got pissed. Reoptimizing brushes does nothing, on both the cave and the worldbase leading to the cave. The zoning flag is on.

The only reason I can think of for this is the high polygon count in a relatively small space. The terrain is a 15x15 vertex mapped masterpiece, with great lighting and roughed up walls. But it is cramped into a 75x75x50 area. Could that be the problem? I have similar places in the map, but these have no problems whatsoever.

Anyone know how to fix this?

I think the following two tutorials will touch on what you are running into

Iirion Claus's tutorial on corridors between different worldbases
http://www.massassi.net/serious/tutorials/mapping/corridors/

LSD's tutorial on advanced zoning

Yes, I'm familiar with those tutorials. I tried everything in those...

I can solve the problem by making the entrance to the cave a cutscene... so the player won't see the bad sector, because once he is inside it, everything is normal.

It's little things like this that anger me, though...
