I noticed some outside areas with the floor sand texture and I see a concrete walkway in the same area. Is that a brush or texture layering. here's a pic to show what I mean

hopfully after this gets anwsered, I'll begin making my first Serious Sam map :D

this is more than likely done using split polygons button.

make a primitive the size of the walkway, position it and click split polys, (or NUM*) then u can select this walkway poly seperately.

Couldn't you just use the cut function on poli-mode (yellow) and then re-texturize the walkway? Sounds easier...

Nah, since you'd have to make multiple cuts.

You can split polys, or you can just position a brush exactly on top of the floor, and add it.

thats what I did but the room totally messed up. I'll try the splitting method.

The thing abour cutting polys is that the shadows get all weird on u.

Remember to lower the shadow cluster size from 2m to 0.5m or smaller.

Also, you can help the look of shadows if you make cuts around their edges rather than letting them fall where the may, but you'll end up with slightly higher polycounts.
