The next revision of SS++ will have a PlayerParent entity, that will allow you to parent stuff to the player. Unfortunately, I must add several lines of code to each entity that can be parented to the player. So, my question is:

What entities do you want to parent to the player? So far lights are quite logical, so I got that. Any other entities to parent?

um just an idea, dont know if this works, but cant u just make it so a normal marker entity can be parented to a player, then anything else that people want to parent can be in turn parented to the marker? (which would do the same job)

if not then modelholder, maybe fog marker, definately soundholder, and particle holders would all be v. nice please!

if you parented a moving brush to a player, i think you could make a very simple vehicle.
im not sure, but it could work

yep, but to be of anyuse a vehicle has gotta run at a different speed to sam. but that cant happen if sam is the parent, but if u simultaneously made sam speed up (can u do this) then maybe it would work.

OR if u simultaenously changed the gravity to zero gravity u could make it as if sam had a rocket pack or hovering vehicle (copyright pompey 2001);)

being able to parent items to a player would be funny... but not neccessary. item copiers would be useful... touchfields and damagers so you can press a switch and be a killing machine :) moving brushes of course (vehicles)...

that might be it... alot of entities are pointless to parent, like music holders.

I just had an idea, what if you parented enemy spawners to the player, and trigger them to spawn like 3 kleers like every, oh 30 seconds. So the longer you take to play the level the harder it will become, cause you would always have to kill these guys. A light would obviously be necessary, cause it would work great for a flashlight-thingie in dark places, like an abandoned mine.

Yes, that's how it works. You have a PlayerParent entity, which looks like Sam's head, and you parent stuff to it, and then it gets parented automatically to Sam.

It'll stick to the player if it started on a PlayerMarker that points to it. So if you want some of the players on DM to have one and some not, you can do it.

parent cameras, so we can make top down mazes and stuff. i lie ss++. i am tired.
