Hello everyone! I am new at building Serious maps and I was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers. I just finished the map "tutorial" and I want to add another room. Thanks!

Allthough I don't agree with everything written in this tutorial, and I would personally do some stuff totally different, this tutorial by Lirion Claus is probably the best way to take off for now

I don't remember if this point was mentioned in the guide, but even if it was it's worth repeating... READ THE FORUMS. Sift through the archives, do searches for every subject you find interesting, and login one every day or every other day to stay up-to-date with current questions.
Additionally, don't be shy asking "stupid" questions- no question is stupid.

Oh, and it's Iirion Claus, with capital i, not l :)

Thanks for the help. I will be printing a LOT with all the sights you gave me Gary P. And don't worry, I will most probably have plenty of stupid questions in the future:)

And check out the Serious Editor: Item-by-Item v0.21 help/document available for download (about 600K, with over 2500 downloads to date) at
http://www.fileplanet.com/dl/dl.asp?3dactionplanet/serioussam/stp/serious_editor_item_by_item_021.zip

(getting these addresses to function as clickable links remains a mystery to me....sometimes they do function....sometimes you have to copy/paste them into your browser's address bar and hit Enter in order to go to that address)

OK, the link to the Serious Editor: Item-by-Item v0.21 help/document is alive and working.  I just downloaded the file, to be sure.  Remember that if you haven't subscribed for a "personal server" on FilePlanet, you'll need to use the "public server" links that appear further down the download page.  I've generally had good experience with them except at the busiest times.

The document is a bit dated and needs work (which is in progress...."when it's done").  One glaring mistake... it describes the "backgrounds" directory in the virtual tree as containing sky (skybox) textures, when in fact that directory contains actual skyboxes (sky room, textured with sky textures, with sun light and with background viewer) that can be dragged and dropped into worlds that one is building (see tutorials elsewhere for details on how to use existing skyboxes and/or to create and use new ones).

Iirion Claus, that's true, but as my signature states, there are a lot of inquistive idiots. :)
