i presume u mean when u look down at the ground beyond the edge of ur map?
go in the skybox, select the floor poly at the base (shift+RMB) its invisible, press q, make it not invisible. this should get rid of ur problem. U can also move the background viewer here.

ahh... i was wondering whether this might be the prob,
for some reason the Dunes background isnt alligned right, and that effect is caused by the uv mapping stretch.
some options:
1.u can choose a different background
2.select the 4 sides of the background, stretch their y value by 1.1 aprox (if memory serves) then move them down so they align with the celing of the background.
3.make a floor to the background. i.e. add a primitive to the background layer, as the floor, where the top lines up with the start of the stretched mapping.
use no. 2 *i reckon! btw a quick way of moving the textures is to hold onto Ctrl and left mouse button and move them around!
that should help,
