I made cool DM level in max, I want to import it, its a single object just over 1200 polys.
I go new, then import 3d object and it stuffs up, 3d exploration dll not found.
and sometimes when i didn't start a new world, and just went import, SED performed an illegal operation and exited. Other times it couldn't find the 3d exploration dll
can anyone help
thanks in advance

Check your "bin"-directory and check you have eview3d.dll and a subfolder called 3dexplorationplugins. If not - copy them from the install\bin on your CD. Can't rememver if it depends on other dll's - otherwise just copy them all from the CD.
Note the dll's might be hidden (windows default), so if you cant se any dll's at all, unhide them in your settings.

Can I ask how you made it in max? Are you talking 3dmax?

yeah, in max, basically you use standard primitives, its a fairly open level with large simple interiors, its a 'fun with gravity' level :)
bascially, i made a pyramid, cloned it, made the clone smaller, put it in the big pyramid, and attached all the verticies.
Then I used slice plane and made a door way to the pyramid. Again extruded some sides and joined verticies.
I made a big dome (sphere), cut it in half deleted the very bottom, extruded it, made another part with a big cylinder type thing.
To attach the pyramid to the dome, i made two flat planes, attached them to the pyramid one each side. Then i clone that pyramid 3 times, so there were little base pyramids, and target welded them to the big dome.
hmmm, i'll upload a pic for ye, u'll get a better idea.
its hard to say, but from the description, i'd say you may have some non-closed meshes. Game engines dont like those.
