I'm making a new map (slightly obvious) and It's based in a snowy mountain. I've added haze to it and it looks pretty nice and effective except the background is still the same colour. I've tried going to the skybox drop-down properties and setting Haze 0 to a hazemarker but doesnt make a difference on any density or setting. Could someone tell me how to do this?

Here is an example of what it looks like at the moment.

You could select the polygons on the edge of the level that are usually portal and make them invisible or something.

edit:
I think if you mark the polygons translucent, transparent, and portal it works.

Only mark them fullbright and apply a texture to them.
In the tex layer properties, set the texture alpha to 0 and the blending mode to blend.
This way you get syk+haze :)

is that with my idea of hazing (on all the terrain and/or in the skybox)?

(both people)

Yeah, haze overlaying the sky.

Woohoo, got it to work! Think what i was doin wrong was that i had the haze marker inside the level rather than the skybox. Anyways, I ended up putting a fog marker inside the skybox at the top and setting the skybox to it and it gave the right effect (at last).

Here is a finished result so you can compare.

It's based on a map I made for FE years and years ago which ruled. I never posted it anywhere because I only used hotmail back then (1.24 mb limit sending) and I didnt come here, went to Serious Editing instead. But it is practicaly dead so i migrated over here n my harddrive crashed and i lost everything! Some tale eh?

So I started all over, caught up and got a lot better if u ask me :D (not bragging, my maps arnt amazing)

I'll post some screenies in showcase as soon as i detail some of the courtyards n stuff more. At the moment they're just snow. Does anyone know some sort of script or summin that adds snow falling. Kinda like the rain. I havent played single-player for ages but if there is snow on Land of the Damned I'll try and nick it. :grr: Anyway enough blabberin, more mappin!

For making snow, there was a tutorial (for rain, can be used for snow also)...
Dunno the link anymore but if you search, you will find.
If you want to do it the leet way, open land of the damned and hit G to see entity connections... also hit N to check for special entities and after 1-2 hrs you will certainly find the right ones ;)

That business of special entities is huuuuge. I scrolled down the lot of it and found nothing on snow or similar. Only lava particles or earthquakes and stuff. I'll just spend the time searching for easier tutorials :P

Getting close here...

1 - I took ure advice and searched for my world settings controller and found it in the castle background (there is 2 and i didnt know:P)

2 - Got excited when i saw the Environment Particle holder checked inside the properties of the WSC.

3 - Used the Special Entities to find it and I moved the EPH and trigger for it into my map.

All I have to do now is figure out how to set it to my map. I have a bad feeling that its only gonna work on a heightmap which my map only partialy consists of. If this is the case my snow is doomed :please: :bawling:

Nah, I already got it working without a heightmap... don't forget to set the box for the particlesholder... (check its properties)

Internet nanny?

But yes, for snow and grass you use Env. Particles Holder.
There´s a tutorial about it in the Tutorial Reguests forum.

My mum has put a little annoying internet control thing on my computer. It drives me mad but I have gotten used to it. It dus things like block certain sites and gives me strict timelines I have to follow :(!
