You can get the videos here (http://files.seriouszone.com/download.php?fileid=907).
If you have a question, please name the video and the time index where your problem occoured.
Be sure to read readme.txt first, it is in the archive.
:claps: Good job. I have worked on the serious editor for quite some time now, but these videos were still neet and well needed for newbies.

In your favourite video program, you can always hit the pause key
(if you are cool and use winamp, strike Space repeatingly...)
Sorry I couldn't map slower :P
Holy hell.. a 50MB RAR.. even with DSL this will be slow. You can't make it any smaller?
Shrinker
08-22-2004, 02:51 PM
Nope.
Oh well, these are great videos, I learned several shortcuts so far.
You're a damn fast builder though! :p

How come you never released any maps? You build so fast that if you keep building day and night you can release 4 maps a day.;)
Shrinker
08-23-2004, 06:09 AM
That is fast?
Nah :P

I'd like to take a run for his money. I've been mapping ever since FE very first reached my hands. :D I made that skatepark as it is the screenshot in 15-20 mins, and that is including me spending time looking for extra textures in the huge archives in my SS folder.
Though I havent seen the video's yet so I'll take back what I said until then. :P

Well, after watching a few of the video's. I wont take him on. :P But only cause we are similar speeds.
Oh and before you ask. The reason snowbase took so long to release is cos my mum was restricting my PC usage per night.

Hey, most of the time is spent on creating a concept and thinking about what to do next :P

08-23-2004, 05:24 PM
Yeah, true. I never bother really thinking about a map layout first though. I just start building with a vague picture in my mind of how I would like it to turn out. The only map I ever planned was Village. And I never bothered finishing :D
I believe it's in here:

Aha, so you're the one that made the SS Seriously. I downloaded it, nice job :D

You go, Shrinker! But you should split the vids up into different files this time, or else it will be another big package which took an hour do download with my cable internet.;)

20mb (either I mapped faster or divx compression is better now)
Discy
02-27-2005, 04:03 PM
That is quite big.
Good thing I always put a Divx codec on all the vids I download.. Or else my harddisk would be full in no time.

I downloaded tutorials! Gradient Marker i didn't know anything about it. I would find it useful in past projects, but in future i think that i will never use it.
Great tutorials ;)

Light Switch toggling.avi can be made even simpler.
with 4 triggers, the one with the blue cyrcle was just
dragged in and auto-start turned on, the other three
are like in the avi...count 2, use, reuse, ecc.
btw. does somebody know how to create a quake?
Shrinker
03-14-2005, 01:46 PM
The extra trigger was to turn the light off by default, it would have stayed with max brightness otherwise.

hey shrinker, nice job, i learned much from this videos!
but i have a problem!
in the second tutorial-pack!
its the video, where you're creating a gradient, i really wanted to know that before i have seen the video, but now more than before!
it doesnt work if i do it, i dont know why
:cry2: :bawling: :D
can you tell me possible reasons for that?
maybe you arent hearing my problem the first time...
maybe there are some things, which are possible to work with grdients...
ok, i wrote too much :P
thanks for help

Are you doing everything shown in the video? As far as I know (never used gradient before), you need to select a world base and in Gradient1 you select the gradient entity you want to use. Then you choose the polygons of that world base you want to use gradient with, and select the proper gradient entity in the polygon options.
It works very similar to how fog/haze works.
double b
05-04-2006, 03:34 PM
ok, if i want to select the polygons, which will have the gradient, there i cant select the gradientmarker i dropped, why?

@shrinker
i have another problem in the time controller video.
where is the directory with the timecontroller .ecl or whatever...?
SLAwww
05-04-2006, 03:46 PM
It's in a GRO file. Open SE1_00.gro with WinRar and unpack \classes dir, you'll find TimeController.ecl there. And for gradient, be sure that you selected a right WorldBase before going into polygon mode and trying to apply gradient.
double b
05-04-2006, 03:49 PM
thanks slaww,
can i ask you another thing?
double b
05-04-2006, 03:53 PM
oh, wait slaww, i found it, but only because you told me the trick with se1_00.gro ;)
thanks for help

ok, if i want to select the polygons, which will have the gradient, there i cant select the gradientmarker i dropped, why?I don't have SEd installed so I may be wrong.
But as I said above, you need to make the world base with the polygons you want to set gradient to, prepared for it. You do that by simply selecting that world base and in it's properties, find Gradient 1 and there select the gradient marker you dropped.
Then you should be able to set gradient to the polygons on that particular world base.

cool tutorial, do u have any video tutorial that teaches about the gravity, how you can fully walk around a planet without falling etc, that would be AWESOME! if you could do that.
