I have done so many different tutorials on skyboxes over and over and over again. Yet I still cannot figure out why when I set up a lens flare on the directional light that serves as the sun, I can't see the lens flare in-game or testing, even though I can see it in the editor. I check off background and set the lens flare to Standard Reflections, and it just doesnt show up in game.

I don`t know. If you have set it to background, it should be visible in test and game anyway

try pressing 9 (or was it 6) on the num pad

Why 9? Why not 0? 0 is rendering exactly like in game(even fog or haze is rendered).

Be sure that you have checked Background for the Skybox, too!

It is "6" - 9 is without render options for fog and such. 0 is also without, displays the default views without background and fog. That is the defaults anyway. Lights are rendered if the option is ticked.

If it's doing it in game as opposed to testing in editor then it is something else however.

Well, on my machine, '0' renders the background and fog, too. But '9' renders the wireframes!

:) Btw, if you want to make your own render, just right click -> View Properties and select from there which things do you prefer...

Oh yeah... If you want to know if you're doing something wrong, just put a CT skybox from the virtual tree and see if the lens flare is working... If it doesn't, you have a bug out there or something similar!!

Ok, after pressing 6, and testing it i saw the lens flare, and it turns out the problem was that if you use the default view settings (1) it renders the editor model for the directional light, and that seems to somehow block out the lens flare. Thanks for your help, guys :joy:

Nah, renderin sed models doesnt block it, but some other rendering option does.
Also, there's a flag "Lensflare only" which is for some weird reason checked in some of CTs backgrounds. I suggest turning it off if you want directional lighting.
Also make sure that the background viewer has a heading of 0°, because otherwise shadows will be cast in the wrong direction.
For some reason CTs background are a bit screwed up on these subjects.
