I host LAN parties every month.
Every month we try a new game, and we tried on SAM last month. I downloaded a bunch of deathmatch maps, and changed the Music to the MP3's of my choice which is excellent. (Something I wish I could do as easily with MP3's with UT.) One thing that was bothersome, was that none of the music was sync'd on the clients. ie. each client could play the music, but depending on when they joined the music started at the begining, and before too long 15 of us in a room, the music did not sound good at all. Now this obviously is not an issue for internet play, or folks who play with headphones, but we do neither. We play in a 100MB switched environment, and everyone is encouraged to bring their speakers and sub woofers. It makes for great fun, and a lot of beer drinking and trash talking amongst a bunch of pasty geeks who never see the light of day.
So is there a method to force all music to be sychronized? I dont believe so, but if someone knows, that would be great. I am assuming since we are using MP3's, and each client spins that up from the local machine upon loading, that we are stuck....but I leave this question to all of you. we don't see this problem with UT, and I am not sure about Tribes 2 since I just got that (but we are playing that next), but I know it uses MP3 format for music...
