View Full Version : The Serious Mini Game's (SMG hehe)

I've always thought it would be cool to make a completely different style of sam without modding and this could be quite fun. What I'm proposing is that mappers post in challenges/mini games and the like and then everyone can try and set scores or time records on these maps. Examples of mini games could be:

- shooting cannonballs into different shaped holes
- races of any kind (running/bouncers/swimming...)
- aim and shoot yourself at walls useing bouncers, the wall would be covered in items of some sort and you have to land on as many as possible on the wall.
- game that I made up in Halo which involved jumping off really high things and aiming for rocks and trees below.
- gnaar bowling
- moving gnaar bowling
- mazes
- bull fighting (with or without weapons)
- bull escaping (hide so they give up then you win)

I hope these idea's interest you, I'm gonna start working on some now and post an example by the end of today hopefully. And remember, one event per map to reduce size and to make it simpler. And give it a name too :D

A tiny map consisting of two platforms in space. One is still which you start on, you then jump to a spinning and wobbline platform and try to stay on for as long as possible.

A spooky maze that can either be played fps or top-down with Fragman's Serious Arcade mod. You are chased by a bull that respawns every 30 seconds. Survive if you can.

i could post my old buggy not working pinball map and you guys could try that... it doesnt work well at all though.

Sounds sweet, I'll try it! :D

I thought of another mini-game, like a small wrestling ring above an abyss. You have to push everybody else somehow, but I cant think of a way without modding...:| Or maybe just a wobbling platform that sways around and the last one standing on it wins...that sounds better :P

Here's a little balance map I made in 5 minutes :D It could be quite fun trying to stay on as long as possible in multiplayer.

Put in in your Levels/LevelsMP folder but I dont think it matters.

I've updated my first post to accomodate more games if they ever arrive. I'll make some more when I get back home on thursday.

Checked it out, nice to see someones doing something for my mod.
Maybe you could add some advanced enemy and item scripting to make the fight more interesting.

I started out with your mod in mind but it turned out slightly different to how i planned. If I make a sequel it will be less mini-gameish and more mission based. I hesitate to say it but it would be similar to Werebull arena but a more complex maze with bigger rooms and more complex enemy item placement. Until then...

Nah, you'd just use spawners with the "maintain group" property set, so that always X enemies are in the map.
And then you could maybe set the death target to a trigger system which would spawn items after it was triggered Y times.

buahaha! Well we have a super speed internet and lan in all the rooms. I sit on the back row with some friends and play UT all lesson. Except over the holidays they re-installed everything on the computers so there is no games left at all. :'(

KK what's about aiming & shooting @ target platforms which are far away. And you have only 5 minutes to shoot'em'all for example.
