I'm getting quite annoyed with my landscape because I dont know how to make the texture fit the whole thing rather than individual sections. Is there a button that does it or do I have to spend ages making sure everything is the same size as everything else!

Oh and I'm sure there's a thread on this already but it's so god damn hard to find them!!! :please:

Help!

Make a box above your terrain, fit the texture on both axes (rightclick menu) and then project it onto the terrain.

Ah, like in the singleplayer maps? I noticed those. How do you project it onto the terrain?

When I created terrain, I projected it onto the terrain using 'M' and 'U'. Just select all the polygons of the terrain, point to one of the polygons (it matters what polygon you point to!) and press 'M' and then 'U'.

And you point to things by...?

As I said in another post's, I know nothing of the technical side of SS mapping. I just bung polygons together and hope it looks good! :D

After you selected the terrain polygons, hover your mouse cursor over them and hit U.

alrite thanks! :D I'll have a go and tell you about any problems I have.

I didnt know you meant point with your cursor, I thought it was some other way :P

Great!! It worked perfectly, thanks a lot!

The only program I can use is Terragen and I donīt know how to use SSīs sand and grass textures as surface maps in that program to create a great topmap.

But I use SEMT for Terrain. SEMT really needs topmap feature.
Shrinker? :P

Iīll need to remember the trick about the aligning topmap if I ever manage to complete one. :P

It does?
Well, learn Delphi and you get the sources (I already forgot how to program in Delphi).

Fiendan, the terragen topmap feature is REALLY simple. I didnt even bother with tutorials, I just fiddled around and got it almost straight away. You can make seperate layers and different slope angles or altitude specific. So for example, you could have a mountain with grass on the low altitude flat areas, then have another layer for a bumpy rock texture on steep and high areas. Finally tipping it off with a super high altitude snow layer!

It works! I'm working on it right now! :D

Thatīs why I canīt do this, Iīm not much of an English expert. ;)
But I was asking how to use SSīs textures as surface maps in Terragen.
(I find SS textures really great)

You can't do that, you have to setup surfaces in different colours in terragen, and you select where which surface appears. Out of that info, it generates a topmap texture if you setup the view correctly.

Damn, I really need to check Terragen out more carefully, itīs more complex than I thought.

Complex?...no. It just needs concentration. ;)

I figured it out and I'm a complete retard! :D

You have the English knowledge. ;)

Fiendan, believe me, it is not difficult, you just need to actually start trying it sometime, instead of thinking that you won't succeed anyway.
If you read that tutorial in the mapping forums, you should get used to it pretty quick.

Exactly, that's what I'm trying to get across. You dont NEED super english understanding. Just follow a tutorial that says "press this button..." and do it! Simple!

Then I need to read the tutorial every time I run Terragen if I forget what this or that is.
I currently donīt have Terragen installed.

I might try this sometimes.
But SS2 is getting closer, I think the best idea would be waiting for it. Maybe it has built-in terrain/topmap editor.

Then the wait is worth it. :D

Well suit yourself.
