A friend and I are starting our mod on the serious engine seeing as it rocks. And we need some help in all catagoreys other than ideas. If you are interested please feel free to mail me at redgreen@starband.net or check assassin-uprise.net (the mod was orginaly headed for the Half-Life scene but sam is too cool to pass up)

It usually helps when you give us a description of your mod to get people interested

The mod will be set in the future against a robot race at war with augmentaited humans as the warriors. It will take place through destroyed citys. Hopefully it will expand to a multiplayer and single player mod. First its starting as single. We need all the help we can get. Some future like weapons and present ones as well. Ill have more details on it as we get help and we finish up the story behind it. Thanks for the comment, i never thought of it till you posted that :)

Sounds good. I will support you when you release it, unfortunately I don't have the skills to do MODs...yet.
Can't believe I can edit this message after over a week.

hey Red Green I can model/texturemap if you want, but on a part-time basis. Let me get some models done and I'll stick a pic of 'em here!

Your mod sounds like it has some characteristics in common with a mod I thought of. Please check out http://members.theglobe.com/Straker86/hellmain.htm for a description. Maybe you'd be interested in combining ideas?

Red Green : How do I get an AOL IM name? Do you have anybody actually working on building this mod yet, or is it just a design doc?

Go to www.aol.com/aim and get aol im and get a username for it so we can talk. I have a modeler right now. You, Nemesis and I are mappers. So 4 people so far.

Okay Red Green, I got AOL IM, and my user name is Straker86 (just like my webpage), but unfortunately, I lost your screen name. Oops... What was it again?
Also, I was thinking that we ought to try to recruit talent from the Quake and Unreal communities. We are in desperate need of programmers who can sling some Serious C++.
But first, we need to chat for awhile on IM about ideas. Determine if our ideas are compatible, and if so, what to keep and what to toss.

Ok i got your name on my list. My name is Dr Fluke Hawkins on aol. Will you be on tonight? I think thats a great idea for the programmers.

Hey Red Green, where on our lovely space rock do you live? I live in California, and it might be nice to know the time difference between here and there (wherever 'there' is) so we can set up a time to chat in real-time.
P.S. : AOL Instant Messager sucks!

Im new to this as well. The Best thing i can say to you is take the room tutorial in the help file of the editor. It really gets the basics down. AND READ ALL YOU CAN!! Im not the best to ask for help but Bwian is great.

I'm afraid that we will be the ones WRITING the tutorials, since we're really the early birds on modding this game. Unfortunately, this means that we have to figure out everything ourselves. On the good side, we get first shot at the awesome features in this engine that are available to modders.
By the way, does anybody know how to play a custom level within the actual game? Also, has anybody experienced wacky texture colors when building levels (especially with old Voodoo cards)?

Straker, to get your custom level to show-up in the custom levels list you have to do a few things. First of all you have to put the two files for the map in the levels folder, then you have to take a thumbnail (not sure if you actually have to do this though) of the level from inside the editor, and finally you have to create a .vis file with your map name on it (just create a new text file and rename it to yourmapname.vis).
