What kind of mods are people interested in seeing? *There's a lot of potential for some crazy stuff with this cool engine. *Personally, I'd love to see some mod ideas which are really unconventional which also take advantage of some of the unique things Serious Sam's engine has to offer over the other engines out there. *I'm planning on working over the summer on a mod for Serious Sam (I have been working with Half-Life mod code for some time now and would love to do some Serious Sam mod work) with a few talented friends I know and we're still trying to come up with a good mod idea (for now we're just learning the SDK etc).

Anything interesting, and it has to have bots. With a shithouse ping here in Australia I need bots.

Please check out http://members.theglobe.com/Straker86/hellmain.htm It's basically a cross between the game mechanics of Team Fortress and Unreal Tournament, and set in huge futuristic environments. And yes, it will have bots.

Prison Infinity has a heavy strategy element, is single player only, and has a mysterious, futuristic storyline. *We're looking for quality team members.. *especially need coders. *:)  If the website is too sparse, I can provide some more info and concept art.  We have some amazing artists.

It's cool that there are other mods out there, but I'm still interested in knowing what kinds of other game projects people would be interested in seeing.  What kind of games would you like to play?

Personally, I have an adventure game idea that I'd like to make with Serious Sam, but I'm not sure if the engine is quite up to it as far as the LOD system goes.

From what I've seen so far in the SDK, Serious Sam makes extensive use of LOD, so it would probably work well with whatever you're planning.

We need a STAR WARS mod!!  I want my saber in the SS engine!

No Strife, I don't think Serious can do this. I was planning to make an entire city on one map. Skyscrapers would be simple 6-polygon structures from a distance, and then the detail would get greater and greater as you get closer to eventually include all the rooms in the entire building. Can Sam do that? I don't think it can. Serious Sam only uses LOD on entities, not CSG (although I could be mistaken). To make this mod in SS would require an entirely entity-based level structure, with CSG for only maybe the basic landscape. It sounds like a big jump from Serious Sam. At the rate engines are growing, I do think it will be possible eventually. Aim high and you'll never be labeled as unambitious!

There is something you can do. It involves using 'pretenders' that show one texture at a distance (preventing you from seeing past it so the game does not render the inside of the skyscraper), and after you are within that distance, you see what it is covering up.

It could be quite interesting to see what you could do with things like this.

I have a lot of ideas on how to use the engines features.  I also have a list of ideas on how to balance teams and insure teamwork.

I might be wrong, but doesn't Serious Engine have some world geometry LOD?  In the editor it mentions brush "mips" which I assume are lower-detail brushes used for distance rendering.......?

Actually, Screaming Beelzebub, I do remember something about 'brush mips' with the terrain CSG.... Hmmm..... When I was looking at the Serious Sam website before its release, I remember seeing something on 'architectural LOD.' But when I got the game I didn't notice any of this (though I guess if it's done really well you won't notice the switching between meshes). Then again, SS is a really simple action game, and it doesn't seem to use all the features that the serious engine has, anyway. My big question is with architectural LOD, how do you define zones? I wonder if the guys at Croteam could shed some light on this.

CS wouldnt really work in sam cause its all cqb
a game like delta force would be much better on the SE

but yea a realisitc mod would rock (but please, not a port of CS!)
