Stomped has recently posted a two-part article about making mods written by Robin Walker of Valve Software. *He writes this article in a context relating to Half-Life mods, but there are a lot of good concepts that are applicable to all engines. *Here are the links:

Well I think we(mod-makers) shouldn't worry about how the pros do it..we should do what we think is best for our mod team. Picking a Shipping Leader may result in people quiting because they wanted to be the SL.

Very good point Agent Rex but if they wanted to be the SL and quit the mod because they weren't serious enough for your mod anyways
