Serious Western...

How bout a Western type mod? *Aliens are trying to overthrough the world, but during the western time period. *There could be mutated soldiers, outlaws, indians, aliens,giant snakes, coyotes, etc, all brain washed by alien chemicals in the water:)..

I like the Alien idea. Future combined with past, great fun. As long as there is a single player game.

Sam saves the day in egypt... but has to go back to the old west in a similar episode! (say.. the 4th encounter? ;))

Heh - that reminds me of the duke nukem game 'Zero Hour' on the N64. It was actually a bloody good game, but everyone ignored it because it was third person. Ironic, because despite ther perspective shift, it played just like duke 3d on the PC =)

Anyhow, the plot of it involves duke messing around with an alien time machine and accidentally breaking it, thus screwing up the space-time continum and leading him across time and space to deal with yet more of those nasty aliens.

The best set of levels was either the wild west levels, with awful jokes like the brothel 'Miner 69er', and details like duke playing his own theme tune on a piano. He also had a wisecrack for almost every building he got into..

My other favourite level was just at the end, when duke messes up the space-time continum even FURTHER, and manages to warp back to modern day america, unfortunately bringing chunks of the past and future back with him.

I just love it when the level begins..

Duke: Ahhh, home sweet home..

He turns round and see's a bunch of alien pigs dressed up in cowboy outfits and guarding a stagecoach.

Duke: Holy s**t - what now!

Commander (over radio): Duke! Good to have you back. We've got trouble. It looks like some MANIAC has completely screwed up space and time. Who would do a thing like this??

Duke (sheepishly): Erhhh - yeah - must be the.. er - aliens having one last try, right? Right?

Commander: Yeah - they'd be the only ones crazy enough to try something like this.. Anyhow duke, get your ass to the centre of the city NOW.

Well, that's the rough dialogue, I can't remember it exactly, but it's funny..

Anyhow - I'm digressing again, aren't I? I personally think a 'sam's adventures in time and space' mission pack/mod would be cool.

Yeah Yeah...(Gunman Chronicles anyone?) no no seriously.... it's a good thought, i only say gunman chronicles cuz it's western based and there are alien types of creatures, but i'm all for the wester thing!

Gunman did dinosaur planet, robot planet and western world (any more? I can't remember). I didn't like it that much though - it felt all rough around the edges, and the level design struck me as a little blocky.

Though, the bosses were rather nice!

It would have to have aliens.. otherwise.. the indians and cowboys would just kill each other.  Not to mention no rockets or anything:)

yeah, and I think it would be a BLAST to have a werebull for your mount! you could try riding down the baddies by steering it...

There's a little RPG called deadlands out there.  Picture a combination of evil dead/army of darkness and High plains drifter, and you get the idea.  There is even something almost like the werebull, the demon cow the Los Diablos.  Check it out.

Its an old school pen and paper rpg, really a great game.  I wanted to make a mod anyway.

That western mod would be very cool. Turn the Werebull into a bull and you've got it 1/2 done. Wish we could ride the bulls like that kamikazie in vally of the kings.
