well i know other games already have some dragon ball mods in progress but i would love to see a DBZ mod for Ss. For 1 the maps are huge, way bigger than half-life any way,and the gameplay would be dope on the Ss game engine.just a suggestion, because i know there has got to be a couple of DBZ playin this game right now

might not be a good idea, the DBZ based mods for Quake3 were stopped relatively cold due to Funimation not liking them not having permission to use copyrighted material.
If you don't use names and likenesses you can do a "DBZ Inspired" mod, without having to worry about copyright issues.

well i dont know about that, bid for power seems to still be up and running, and there are a couple of Half life DBZ mods in the making that seem to still be in progress with no interuption from funimation.

BfP were stopped from release, basically means they can work on it until doomsday, but can't put it out to us unless Funimation gives the O.K.
Regardless of BfP's case I totally agree with 707pimp it would be a very fun mod
I would LOVE to play SS in Gohan's outfit! I think it would be a blast(hehehe)!
As for Funimation, they already have dammm near half the country pizzed at them for the way they translated the series. It wouldn't surprise me to see someone else targeted by their "legal eagles" in what has to be hte largest active legal branch in the country. Gawd, why would a company in the business of kids cartoons be so tightazz about something as simple as a game mod? Capt. MoreBucks need to overdose on some valium, methinks.

Yeah I think a DBZ mod would be cool too......stupid funimation. *Whats wrong with people making a game mod because they like the show?? *Whats wrong with that??

A DBZ mod would kick ass. Or a NGE mod, or a combination of the 2 :)

Anyone here played the superheroes mod for quake 2? It was brilliant - there was a mountain of pre-made superheroes from across time and space, including superman, iron man, the punisher etc, as well as some others (luke skywalker, or a huge, slow stomping robot anyone?).
It really did feel epic, with huge explosions and flying combat - the best part though was that you could pick from a pile of generic models and build your own superheroes - pick his abilities, powers and skills.
A mod like this - preferably anime styled with Huuuuge outdoors and indoors environments would be amazing. Sod DBZ - you wouldn't have the constraints of a universe to fit in with or characters to steal. You could make the ultimate anime battle mod - I'm thinking something like virtual on combined with psychic force, with a little armored core esque character building. THAT would rock!
Yeah yeah yeah, that's all great n stuff. But I WANT MY DBZ! The fireballs, spiritbombs, special attacks, etc. would KICK A$$ big time!!!!

You could have all those abilities, and perhaps some similar looking heroes, but by not directly stealing the DBZ liscence, you both avoid possible legal repercussions, and open yourself to a whole WORLD of originiality!

Keep in mind that hand-to-hand combat usually doesn't work real well in FPS games, and in a game like SS, it would be *real* tough. The engine just doesn't feel right for that sort of thing. Players feel tiny in comparison to everything else (including guns). There'd have to be some major tweakage before that would feel right.
But the energy-related attacks have the potenial to be downright stunning. I'm almost tempted to hack one out using that beam model from the UFO at the end of the game, coupled with some explosions =) I've got some interesting control ideas too, especially for jumping.
I do like the idea, but it would be very difficult to do it correctly.
except that if you've ever seen Dragonball Z, most of their attacks are ranged fire balls, spiritbombs, etc. They could easily be remodified lasers, etc.

So some one make it!(I would but I can't I am just crap at making stuff like that)

Haha, Half-life is definitely the game you DON'T want to make a DBZ mod for!! :)

Look at the screen shots of the others! The modeling is nice, but that's about it. Bad programming? Bad Game design? Bad level design?, well, it really is a game design issue/engine limitation issue! Gohan as a boy no less, shot through a rather large tree, and left a nice hole in it, Guess what SS/Q3/HL/all FPS games out there cannot do? Leave holes! Also the SS powerups don't look very cool. I plan on writing my own RPG engine in a year or 2, and hopefully get rights to have DBZ as an RPG, the way I think would do it the most justice.
