finished an early build of yet another Knife Arena map, Klaustrafobia:

that's a screen from one of the (many) tiny little rooms, this one happens to be underwater

You may want to make sure that the floor textures are lined up (have the same coordinates). It looks like there's a polygon break there.

LOL yeah I fixed that before I got to beta, that's a screen from the last alpha

Cool.

But way too much light! Tone it do a bit and give us some shadows. ;)

Exactly what I was thinking! I mean, klaustrafobia... Get rid of some of the lights, and have fade in/out effects with animated lights, to make us feel paranoid and klaustrofibic.

this version I like to have fullbright.
My OTHER Knife Arena map is the same deal, but with animated off/on light animations. i may or may not make this into KA (Smithboy?) It's called Stalkers! and it's very frightening....Klaus is just very, very, very tight. It almost feels like your put under a nutcracker.

EDIT:
Okay let me rephrase that a bit. It's ALL on fullbright because you have to be able to see exactly where you are going, or you're in for some long, damaging falls. Nothing too serious, but enough to be a chip in the actual gameplay. Plus the outdoor "plaza" area is kinda pretty and bright...Maybe I'll show a screen of that next :)

But now that you mention it, the brightness does distract from the claustraphobic feeling. So I changed a couple things around: First of all, the map is now called "The Smallest World". "Stalkers" has been renamed to "Klaustrafobia" :)

Anyhow I need for Caid to get online so I can force him to play The Nightclub, Stadium, and Smallest World with me :)

LoL! That's cheating :)

alright now that I've finished the prototype for Smallest I changed the name again (because the new one is fairly large) to WirldLonk (temporary name ;) ).
here's a screenshot of the fountain I build using basic primitives (conus) and for the downpour arch I built a tall circular primitive, hacked off the bottom half, and sectored it off, tecturing it with the waterfall sequence from Moon Mountains and setting Alpha to 90. It looks better in game, but I need to recolorize the water so it fits with the fountain just a little better. Plus the fountain stream could use a tad bit of realigning :). This is just the fountain entity in a seperate room I built just so I could take a screen. Keep in mind no textures are final, and in the actual game there is a drain pipe you can swim down to get to the water room. Once again I've cleverly hidden the Knife :)

Alright well until next time :)

Hate to nitpick, but is it a problem if you increased the fountains poly count. It's horribly blocky.

Cool set-up though.

Acutally that's on my to-do list, so I don't really take offense :). When I'm done making the rest of the map, if it doesn't hurt the framerates I'll add particle FX and increase the polycount. And sound, don't forget the all important sound.
