This is a map I've been working on for about a week and a half and I'm about 55-60 percent done. Note: All foreign words found in this level are a part of JRR Tolkien's book "The Silmarillian" and I call none of them original and created by me. Amarth-Hini means Children of Doom, this is the storyline/history, it is fairly long but gives some insight:
In the early stages of the Egyptian culture there rose up a clan called the Amarth-Hini. They would practice new found dark magic inside the temples, soon the Egyptians banished them from the temple to never return...
It so happens that Mental had Earth contact as well, many years after this banishment he met with the Ancestors of the Amarth-Hini. They thought he was a god, the god of evil, their master. They built a temple to him and four temples of the four elements of evil to him: Water, Sky, Shadow, and Fire. Here they hid the four keys to open his mighty temple. In secret, Mental's forces hid a secret weapon that would annihalate anything within the blast area, keeping it from discovery from the Siriun forces.
About midway in the war, Mental sent down his forces to recover the weapon and destroy the Amarth-Hini, he had no use for them now. The weapon now in his hands the Siriuns were wiped out easily.
Archaelogists found no trace of this great temple, since Mental destroyed any trace of it. You must go back to when the temple was still intact. and retrieve the four keys and open the temple and destroy the Super Weapon. But don't think the forces will be mellow.
Now you probably want some pics so I'll provide them, except the only server I have is geocites, and since you can't provide pics with geocities the best I can do is give you links and a description:
http://www.geocities.com/nomercy_rider/Amarth1.jpg - This is the timelock you come through, you can see you run into enemies right at the start.
http://www.geocities.com/nomercy_rider/Amarth2.jpg - This shows the main courtyard which is linked to the courtyard you start in, the four temples, and the temple devoted to Mental.
http://www.geocities.com/nomercy_rider/Amarth3.jpg - This is the entry courtyard to the Water Temple. You can see the portal (one like in Karnak) which shows the entrance to the temple.
http://www.geocities.com/nomercy_rider/Amarth4.jpg - This is the actual entrance to the Water Temple, it is mainly in ruins, and is completely submerged.
http://www.geocities.com/nomercy_rider/Amarth5.jpg - This is or is going to be the entry to the temple of Mental. You can see there is no door yet that links to the temple, just a blank wall.
This is just the bones of the level and I haven't added the detail yet. The Water Temple was taken on fullbright since I haven't added lights outside yet (So don't complain about it being to bright :) ). I won't be using Netricsa much except to give history of the temples, give directions, etc. Netricsa will not be used to help solve puzzles!
Also, Do you think I should give the storyline I gave above as the intro in Netricsa or a part of the readme?
One last Note: This will be implemented with SS++ so you'll need that to play it. Let me know what you think. And playtesters will be needed.
