it looks really good and i can't to play it, i was actually going to attempt to do a level like this myself, probably a replica of that brilliant q3 space lev, i can't remember what it's called but it was the only space lev in the q3 demo.

Your map works very well on my computer (A600, TNT2 (M64, 16MB), 256MB, 640x???). Usually the fps were like 50 - 60, but in jumps out from lower ring and facing the center in while in the air dropped fps count to 18 - 24. Btw, I'm not an expert on item placement, but your map seems to contain even less health items than my maps, and that's something :) I've just walked through your map, though, so I can't say how it handles in actual game.
This level is way cool!!
How long did that take to do??

i dunno i'm thinking maybe more maybe remove the 100h and add 4 25s
im also thinking of replacing the lasers with grenade launchers
whatever happens i got a lan test thursday night with it
friday night implement any changes needed from the test
saturday its out the door
the minigun would be nice too in that level.
yes, take the 100h out and put some smaller h in.
Maybe spread some 1unit health and armor where the outer bouncers are...
Well.. I just tried the map with a friend of mine. In the end he had +5 score, I had -8 or something with total of 18 deaths :)
Maybe I'm a bit slow to learn, but every 20 seconds I was either falling to my doom or getting teared to shreds by a tommygun / laser by a foe whose whereabouts were totally unknown to me and I had no place to hide :)
And yes, I'm a very lousy DM player :)
During the few frantic fights the game lagged a bit more than is acceptable, but I think it's more because of the packet loss rate than the map.

Framerates are good here. Usually around 60-70, with no major highs or lows. Seems like a fun map. There just one comment: It's a bit too symmetrical. Not in geometry, but in item placement. Having that Lasergun-Shotgun-RocketLauncher combo on both sides of the map gives it less variety, and sometimes it's a bit confusing (you don't know which side of the map you're facing). Other than that, great map!

Ive thanks for playtesting m8
i was reluctant in the first place to add the 2 tommyguns
scan hit weapons with the rate and power of the tommygun
and levels like this 1 dont mix well IMHO
single shotguns are headed for that spot
and lasers are changing to to grenade launchers
i have a close m8 who has dubious sam skills and he spends a lot of time in the void also
this feature is intentional :)

its just a shortcut to easy pretty levels
no need for the weapons to follow

I know it's intentional, but nevertheless it's one of the main reasons I won't be playing this map a lot, it doesn't work with my carefree style (A bit like Lava Tomb with a laggy 33.6k modem, no 3d card and a desire to get rail gun :) )
Still, I believe there are lots of ppl who'll like this map.
I side with Devil N's comment on item placement symmetry..

this level is designed for lan play as i only have a 56k connect
i couldnt imagine playing no name online

And as for q1dm4.. I wouldn't play it because if someone got GL, he could dominate the map at the topmost level. Kamikazes quite effectively simulate the way I move around in DM games :)
Btw KMA, my 1st map has something in common with q1dm4 (one cylinder, GL dominant weapon), but instead of lava there's water at the bottom (check the 'A small DM map for d/l' thread if you're interested).

Plays very smoothly. On a athlon 700 with a Radeon 64mg ddr, I was getting 60 to 70 average frames in 1024. Lowest I dropped to was low 40s and once down to 38. Of course this was all just with testing in a local game with just me on the map. With a 56k connection, it seems almost impossible to do any internet testing right now.
I do think maybe 1 or 2 more health items might be nice in the upper area of the map. Maybe just the 10pt blue ones. But that is just me. But it is definately a small enough map that not much health is needed at all. Especially with the fast respawn rates that SS seems to have.
Keep up the great work, this definately is shaping up to be a very fun DM map.

Played over lan, yesterday with my brother. Really nice. We ended up having an overall of about 50 deaths. He had some +15 kills and I had some +25
Played at 1280 and rest at default settings. No hiccups, nothind, just smooth gameplay. ( TBird 1200 @ 9*142, 2x128MB Ram at cas2, hercules/Guillemot 3d Prophet 2 gts pro )

im just about to pack up my gear and do a final playtest myself
i have uploaded a final beta for you people ^^^^^^^^ up there in which i have implemented some of your suggestions
barring any issues from drinking no sorry playtesting tonight or from yourselves its finished
oh yes i nearly forgot
its called Stratosfear btw
