I extracted the maxi gun to my mods folder and tried it. I was really surprised whe all it did was show the first encounter mod and I never saw a minigun at all. Please check it out and let me know if it does it to you.
Load some map with a minigun and you'll see the difference after you shoot the first round... I was baffled as well since it didn't seem to change a thing until I loaded Great Pyramids and tried the minigun there. I find that gun a mighty bit too effective. The Kleers and werebulls went down in seconds.. Well, that's a good start nevertheless :)
The kleers go down in a fraction of a second, LOL!
I'm really surprised to hear that it doesn't show up in the mod list... works fine here on two local sam installations ( development and game install ).
I'll look at it and maybe make it a little less powerful, if you want ;)
Edit:
It works wonderful... place the file in the mods dir and it shows up. delete them and it's gone... Added another file, to show MaxiGun in the main menu after you loaded the mod... try it

I don't actually need new weapons.. I'm already having problems selecting which weapons to place on my maps :)
I was going to say that loading the mod won't change the main menu, but since you say you've already fixed it.. :)
The main menu doesn't change after loading the mod... It should tell MaxiGun instead of The first Encounter..
As of new weapons.. To be exact: this is not a new weapon it's just a modded one. And It's as well just something I fool around with to get into SS coding...
But I thought of an additional menu in which one could change the bullet type for all his weapons and fire rate, reload time and whatever.... makes sense?

I'd guess that this mod won't work in 1.02...

Yeah, won't work. Need code update. Tide could do that pretty easily I bet.

Zip and I got the code updated and the mod packeged-up nicely. Go here (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~serioussam/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=9&topic=296) for the thread on the new version.
