When I start up Serious Sam on my Windows 2000 machine it crashes just after the splash screen. The first line of my Serioussam.log file says 'Performance timer invalid'. How can I fix this?

The reason that this happens is that the game is unable to measure the speed of the CPU on some Win2k machines. Croteam have made a special version of the Engine DLL file available for Win2k machines suffering from this problem, which you can get here. Download the ZIP file and extract the Engine.dll file to the Serious Sam Bin directory. Please note that this only fixes the fatal crashes at startup and not if it is locking up during the game. This is a seperate problem.
