How do I know if I have received a damaged or corrupt installation CD i.e. a 'Bad CD Media' error?
If you have received a damaged or corrupt installation CD you may encounter the following problems:
- the level you just finished reloads and starts from the beginning
- many installation errors (e.g. 'Data error (cyclic redundancy check)')
- the game comes to precaching stage and then stops at certain percent
- the installation asks for the missing file 'data3.cab', or something similar
- installation asks for the next disk
- errors while loading (e.g. 'Can't Load Player Model' or similar; 'Chunk ID validation failed' and other)
- 'crc diff error' when trying to connect to multiplayer (although this error occurs mostly because of other reasons)
