I get a 'CRC error in DIFF' error or a 'Wrong CRC check' error. Help!
'CRC error in DIFF' is caused by a difference in level files between the server and the client computer. 'Wrong CRC check' is also caused by a difference in files but excluding level files, meaning that any other type of file (texture, model, sound...) that does not match the version on the server will cause this error. There are currently three reasons why CRC errors occur (assuming that the installation on the server is correct. If the server has installation errors, then every client will get a CRC error):
- The files on the client computer have been manualy altered somehow. Maybe the user changed a texture, sound or any other file.
- Some of the files have been copied incorrectly, due to a 'Bad CD Media' error (see this question (http://forums.seriouscommunity.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8551))
- If you are using the European version of Serious Sam and are trying to connect to a server running a USA version, you may also get this error. This has been fixed in the v1.00c patch, which you can download here (http://dl.fileplanet.com/dl/dl.asp?3dactionplanet/serioussam/serioussampatch100c_usa.exe).
