The game won't start and reports this error: "Fatal Error! Cannot set display mode!". Help!
You should try the following:
- Update your video drivers with a recommended version or the newest version available on the internet
- Check if there is a file OpenGL32.dll on your system. It can be found in the windows\system (win98) or winnt\system32 (Win2k & NT) folders. If it doesn't exist, something is really wrong with your OpenGL installation.
- Be sure to check whether Quake 3 or another OpenGL game works on your machine. This is a must! If it doesn't work, there is something very wrong with the system installation, and you may even have to reinstall the windows.
- There may be a chance that you can start the game from the command prompt, although this rarely helps. But you can try. Go to the 'bin' directory and type SeriousSam.exe.
- If you installed a new video card in your computer, in some rare cases only a full windows reinstallation will allow you to install the appropriate display drivers.
