I want to configure the game to allow me to play with two mice. How can I?
Here are some instructions on how to install secondary mouse on your machine. Note that this is not an ordinary installation, but the special one that will enable secondary mouse usage only in "Serious Sam".
1) Secondary mouse MUST be serial. Other mouse types (USB, PS/2, ...) are not supported as secondary mouse, but only as primary one.
2) Your secondary mouse MUST NOT(!) be installed and operational under Windows. On Windows 95/98/ME/2000, pluging in the serial mouse will automatically detect and install it upon next reboot. It may even happen under Windows NT, if you're using some 3rd-party driver for your primary mouse.
3) To setup 2nd mouse in Windows 9X/ME/2000 make sure to disable serial mouse device in device manager. Device manager is invoked with Start->Settings->Control Panel->System->(Hardware)->Device Manager. Now, open "mouse" or "mice..." branch in the list and double click on "serial mouse" (or something like that). In next dialog, simply disable this device and reboot the system (just to be on the safe side). After rebooting, your 2nd mouse should not work under windows.
NOTE: while you're in "Device Manager", please make sure that you have corresponding COM port installed in first place.
4) To setup 2nd mouse in Windows NT just add the corresponding COM port if the one is not already in the system. It's in Start->Settings->Control Panel->Ports. Now, click on "Add" button and for COM1 select 1, I/O 3F8 and IRQ 4, and for COM2 it's 2, 2F8, 3. That should do.
NOTE: if your secondary mouse gets auto-installed, this means that you've got 3rd party mouse driver for your primary mouse, and you should disable any auto-detection and auto-installation for mice somewhere in the driver properties (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Mouse). Good luck!
5) To enable the 2nd mouse you must open the console (~) when in the game and type the following command: /inp_i2ndMousePort=0;
NOTE: replace 0 with the com port number you have your serial mouse plugged into or it will not work.
6) Now, when you start "Serious Sam", setup 2nd mouse just like you would setup your primary mouse. Note that you already have a predefined controls for 2nd mouse ("Load predefined settings"->2nd mouse), but if you want to change it yourself ...
For buttons setup, just go to "Customize buttons" under "Controls" menu. As for axis, go to "Advanced joystick setup" and set "2nd mouse Y" for "Look u/d" function and "2nd mouse X" for "Turn l/r" function.
And of course, special thanx goes to Boris Pereira from Doom Legacy project, for showing us how to implement secondary mouse!
Thanks to xxzen and Alen for providing and pointing out this info.
Added step for enabling the 2nd mouse via the console.
