When I am playing a multiplayer game I get the following type of error message 'Session State: Missing sequences 11585-11652(68) timeout 0.1' and I lag quite badly. What is happening?
This error is associated with a loss of a large number of UDP packets on your network. Your network settings, a router or proxy server or being connected to a slow server can cause this. If it's a slow server then try finding a better server to play on. If you are using a router or proxy server then other people using the connection while you are playing could cause this. Some routers will drop UDP packets (used for games) in favor of TCP packets (used for web access and FTP), so if someone is downloading and using a lot of bandwidth you might be unable to play.
