Croteam themselves gave us a very good reason to assume the worst; by taking many months to create a simple Linux binary.![]()
Yeah, but what happens if they DO release the patch?![]()
Some people thought that the editor would never come, but it was released later anyway
I hope the same thing happens with the linux client.
Maybe they are annoying us on purpose!Yeah as soon as they saw seriousbirdy, they thought "Damn, that guy is annoying! Let's delay the Linux and see how far he gets!". I'm certain if we would ban sb, we would get Linux.
Vote for ban?
Yes, I am joking.
Well it has been almost one week and nothing gets done on weekends so time is quickly counting down until the "so called" release time for the Linux Client. I am going to try to setup a server machine running on an old Sparc Ultra 10 running Dapper 6.06 (Sparc). I am also going to have to reinstall my own box with a non-X64 based linux distro in order to avoid problems. I am thinking of using Mandriva 2007 Power Pack Plus or I will just stick with Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 (X86). Either way after all this, if there still is no release I will NOT be very happy with having just totally reinstalled two machines !!
This shows just how SERIOUS I am about Serious Sam
Anyone heard rumours yet that the client will be X64 compatible ?

I'd say it is very likely considering 64bit is becoming the new standard, fx. Vista is 64bit only as far as I know.
Even if they are a little late there will be no flameing here.
I remind you all this is a game forum not CT's forum and our rules apply.

And also that CroTeam aren't just working on the Linux client and that they're not sitting around doing nothing
well maby they are working on a linux patch but also on the next SS i think
the ending movie just wants you to play more!
Orly?
ATTENTION CROTEAM: I've got a few days off work early next week so that would be a really good time OK?Although this Friday would also be acceptable. Thanks.
Vedran does not really need sleep. He is lying to you...

Just remember complaining is not flaming
Hey, have you checked your PM lately?
Armern: what in the world
Armern: did I just get a pm?
But it still works like a gasoline on blazing flames.![]()

So far I am not having much luck getting it to run;
First I was missing "libopenal.so.0" so I installed the packages and fixed that issue. Now the errors I am getting are;
tuxgamer@tuxgamer-desktop:~/downloads/serioussam2/Bin/Linux-Dynamic-Release$ ./Sam2
./Sam2: error while loading shared libraries: Bin/Linux-Dynamic-Release/Core.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I know I had this problem before with another game, it was eithe a package missing or file permissions were incorrect, just have to remember again.
I am only home for lunch so I don't really have the time to do in depth trouble shooting right now. I do have 3D acceleration running and also have Quake 4, UT2004, Doom III, StrikeForce all running great. Is there a debug option with the launcher ? There should also be more documentation included with the files.
My system specs are;
Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 X64
Asus Geforce 6800 - PCI Express (512 Ram)
1 Gig DDR mem
Latest Nvidia Drivers
Athlon AMD 64 3800+
MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum (latest BIOS) Nforce 4 chipset

Does ~/downloads/serioussam2/Bin/Linux-Dynamic-Release/Core.so exist? and if so, does it have +x permission? If it is there and the permission is right try running serious sam 2 from ~/downloads/serioussam2/ using ./Bin/Linux-Dynamic-Release/Sam2 and then see if the system can find it.
LMAO ... Hey I am only posting my results as I come across them, this way it will help the tux newbies when they run into them. Things will process smoother when I get home to night from work and have a nice cold frosty B33Rerrrr sorry a friggen case o B33R //TGIF "BURP"
I will also be havin a few for Vedran for releasing it![]()
You should offer Croteam a beer if they ever happen to drive by your house.![]()
Looks like I'm getting a segfault caused by string handling, I've already e-mailed Vedran about it, but just a heads up for everyone else.
