But a Seriously problem is, that the Game has no control over the X server, so.. if you move the Mouse to left, right, down, up, the wohle Screen goes with them. And thats in Full Screen mode, thats just damn annoying..

Ah and.. of cource i have the other bugs, mentioned here
Yeah I already mentioned that, you can bring the screen back to where it should be by dropping down the console and then situating it manually. On my system it doesn't happen too often. Has anyone else using twinview experienced this?

Could not open file! (Content/SeriousSam2/Databases/PowerUpEffects.rsc). Creating replacement file.
So that must be a bug in the Script from Caedes.
hmm I don't know, why this bug occurs. the whole database-directory, like it is after installing serious sam 2 und the linux patch is moved into another folder, later copied into the home-dir of the current user and symlinked into sesam2/Content/SeriousSam2/Databases again - so no loss should occur.

did anybody else experience this bug?
Want an easy script to install the Linux version of Serious Sam 2? And what about Serious Sam 2 behaving like a "standard" Linux application (i.e. saving settings in the homedir of the current user)?
Download caedes_sesam2_hack_0.02.tar.gz :-) (new version with better support for "older" DVDs)

PlanetMirror is still broken, and Filefront still demands a cookie.

    Hi @ all.
After i managed to download the files i wonder if itīs planned to have an dedicated internet server supported.
And just for my interest: Why isnīt it supported?
The ReadMe says something about GameSpy what i didnīt understand.
Is GameSpy a must have feature for game publishers to bring their servers online?

AFAIK there's a binary in the Bin directory somewhere which allows you to run a dedicated server. No need for Gamespy

GameSpy is a proprietary game server browser that SS2 and many other games use for their clients to find online matches, as it is a proprietary product it must be licensed from the vender and that license wasn't available at the last release. (meaning GameSpy is taking their sweet time approving Croteam's GNU/Linux license) all the more reason to use software libre

So this means i can start a dedicated internet server, but noone will be able to join, due to the fact that noone will see him?
    Sounds funny.^^
Ok. Maybe programs like ASE will find the server?

So.. in short, Croteam didn't have a Master Server, like a company with 2 letters? ^^

    Another bug:
When I resize the window (not in fullscreen mode), and if during the operation (the BSOD progress bar) I try to move it (for example in the screen center), it is correctly moved but the mouse pointer is doubled and sometimes unusable in the game options. I even see the pointer in the game. Then, if I resize it again, without moving it, the window goes back to the upper left corner, but the pointer is still doubled.

Smile Re: Linux Client Beta: Feedback and Bug Reports

I wrote a quick little script to update an installation of Serious Sam 2 done with my "caedes_sesam2_hack"-scripts to version rc2.1

    http://horst.kicks-ass.net/caedes/update_to_rc2_1.sh

If you haven't installed SeSam2 (with my script) yet you should use this, you just have to change the filename of the patch in install_sesam2.sh from ss_linuxbeta_public.tar.gz to ss_linuxbeta_rc_2_1_public.tar.gz

I'll release a new version of my script within the next few days.

My download must have been incomplete or something because now I can even connect using the pervious RC. Anyone else have another download link ?

Sigh, no RC2.1 love for me. All of the mirror links are broken right now. I get an "Invalid Key or in use or Missing File" message when I try to download from FileFront, and the PlanetMirror links are still dead.

Any chance somebody's got it hosted somewhere else?

The file seems to be deleted from both FileFront and PlanetMirror.

Thanks for that. If there was a reason that it was taken down I guess I'll find out, but it seems like everyone who has tried it has had good luck with it.

so far the new client looks good and mouse wheel is now working
not sure if anyone else noticed this but if you play the game at a lower res than what the desktop is set at the game wont restore the desktop back to its default at least his was the case with ubuntu 6.10 edgy with the current nvidia drivers.

allthou it kind of curious thou that i can't run the game at as high of a detail setting as i can windows?? usually with linux in my case it the other way around like with ut 2004 native i can run at higher resolutions and faster frame rates than windows. for this game i have to drop everything to low and run at 800X600 to be playable and look decsent with windows i run at 1024X768 with everthing at medium settings and run smoothas silk.

this is on the same system with a dual boot
wich has a athlon xp1600 cpu
    nforce 2 ultra motherboard
    1gig ddr dual channel ram
    256mb nvidia 5500fx graphics card

but the videos with this new client run perfectly. can't wait to see the improvements for the next release are! over all you guy at croteam are doing a great job and thanks for supporting linux gaming

Well I got the file downloaded again this morning, but I just keep getting "Failed to Connect", the startup audio works great and I can connect via LAN. When I go to Internet play I get that error. Other than that everything works nicely for me. Which log should I be looking at to find out why ? I will keep retrying to reinstall.
