Those links both go to sign in pages.
And since I don't have a wish to see what viruses are circulating at that university's server Im going to pass.
And for the record my morals are in conflict with my scruples at any given time so what I think right now is irrelevant but ask again when I care.

NIN is also "leaking" their own album. And of course, the RIAA is threatening the sites hosting the released MP3's with cease and desist orders.

hah, this is wicked, and it's an awesome album.

If I were not an atheist, I would believe in a God who would choose to save people on the basis of the totality of their lives and not the pattern of their words. I think he would prefer an honest and righteous atheist to a TV preacher whose every word is God, God, God, and whose every deed is foul, foul, foul.

Actually, Trent made it up as part of the album's story. Simply enough, the album is a look about 15 years ahead into a future that might seem familiar to us, and serves as a warning for what might be coming if we let things continue on their present course.

Sweet album though. Much better than "With Teeth" by a loong shot.

Seriously though, the record label signed off on NIN "leaking" some songs like this as part of the Alternative Reality Game. The whole idea of it is for people to distribute the songs and find clues in them and so on and so on. Good god RIAA, calm down. Even the artist you're "protecting" hates you. I suppose their lawsuits hardly matter anymore either (like they ever meant something) considering the songs are all on the official website. Which is, by the way, really awesome of NIN to do so. I'm not aware of any other high profile band doing something like this. Fans love it and it's a slap in the face to the RIAA.

This site has most of the info in it. Been following this for a while, pretty cool shit.

My favorite thing out of all of it is as follows. Watch the trailer here. Come up with a copy of the leaked 'My Violent Heart' MP3, doubt I can post it here (even though it was leaked by NiN at one of their concerts, was on a USB Thumbdrive found in a bathroom stall at one of their shows in Europe.) Put it through a spectrum analyzer (the Voiceprint option in Winamp's Tiny Fullscreen visualization works well). Skip to the static at the end of the track, and be amazed. Freaked me the **** out when I saw it. Love the lore surrounding this kickass album.

    Apathy or ignorance?

Maybe I just don't understand, but what am I supposed to be amazed by in that pic?

The fact that it's stored in a song as nothing more than static? Yeah, 'be amazed' was the wrong choice of words, sorry.

Lol, it's part of the Alternate Reality game Trent Reznor is pulling for the next year and a half as a part of the Year Zero story.
