phpBB has green moderators and red administrators by default, vB could be configured the same way, adding blue tribunes and maybe yellow staff.

Tribunes were light blue, not blue.
There are other colors too. Purple, pink, white, black

How about pink for Administrators? Or bright yellow, as Louva seems to looooove yellow.

Well, garnering back to the suggestion that you reimplement the previous color code you used in times past, it would be great(at least in my frame of thinking) becuase like I said forum newcomers or anyone who hasn't gotten the hang of things yet can ask the appropriate question to the appropriate member. That being said they can also use such color coding to relay comments or suggestions to the appropriate memeber in the appropriate catagory they are in charge of or as a clear distinct difiner for the boundaries of authority on the forums whenever a huge change is undertaken on the forums or a conflict arises. As far as questions a person could ask, it would depend on the specfic member the question would be asked to:

To a tribune, they could ask questions such as:
- questions about the forums in general and proper usage of conduct to be used on S!
-why S! has tribunes in the first place and their purpose as mediators and forum role models
-how could they approach an issue on the forums if they are unsure how to, such as a conflict where the tribune(currently only Mr.Viper) would remind the user to ignore the post and report it.
-where can they find the code of conduct if they cannot find it
-if an penalty is brought upon a member and they don't undertand the ramifications of why such is the case, they can bring it upon a tribune to help them understand why

To a Staff, they could ask questions such as:
- specific functions of the site and how it works
-what specific task does questioned staff member have
-how do certain functions on the site work(like the PM function)
-a specific question about a newsarticle a newswriter wrote
-a forum question if not directed to a mod or tribune

To a moderator, they could ask questions such as:
-general forum questions that may not get asked to the tribunes
-what is a moderator and their purpose on the site
-if a conflict arises on the forums, informing the mod of the situation and asking them to take action(depending on the seriousness of the crisis)
-What kinds of punishments can a moderator issue forth towards a forum member depending on the severity of the infraction
-asking a moderator to modify a post or thread title for them and/or add poll or other functions a regular user cannot do
-ask about BB codes

To an administrator, they could ask questions such as:
-anything mentioned above that was not directed to the appropriate member
-general info about the site and what each admin does on the site
-ask about the chain of authority on the site
- ask about specific site functions that the questioner felt no other member could answer
-ask a personal question or comment that said person felt only a admin should hear about(i.e issues with another forum member etc.)
-ask about how/if Croteam and Devolver interacts with the forum

1) People without enough posts aren't even aware Luxor exists.
2) All users can send PMs unless they are being punished for something.
3) People usually ask for a thread to be deleted in that thread. The only time we grant that request is if it is a duplicate. And we never mass delete a user's posts or delete their account at their request.

Obvious question has obvious answers.
1) Infractions send a PM to the user with an explanation telling them why they received it.
2) Users almost always post a thread when they have questions like this.

@Godzilla, maybe the others can correct me here but in my experience not very many people PM questions. I rarely receive questions through that medium. Most of the time they just post a new thread in Off Topic or this forum.

1) It's not always a clear one.
2) I don't. It's a waste of space.

When I was new I didn't actually think "well, this is a question about how the forum works, I best ask a moderator", they ask someone with authority and a nice attitude. Actually, only a nice attitude is required for helping with general questions. But still, the whole differentiating between user groups with odd colors is a bit weird to me. Having some users with red, blue or green names just looks ugly on the color scheme. I like the soft colors, makes it easy to read.

In short, I'm for keeping things the way they are now and differentiate user groups in some other way, like a small graphic below the location.
