Thanks all It's not an extremely long level though, making it look pretty & adding a story is a lot more time consuming than just adding more fights. 0.50 will still be at least twice the lenght of 0.25 (even if you collected all the secrets in the first one).

There's basically more "purpose" in this second level than just wandering around like in the first one.

(For some reasons, I decided post on this showcare thread. :p)

Tried killed the BOSS in first level again with normal, feel like I'm playing SS:TSE, hmm...
But I think the autosave point is too early, because get killed in BOSS battle and then go back to the point of BOSS battle triggering items spawned still feel not good.
For me, I would like it saves my game after I triggered BOSS battle...whatever, just suggest that.

Not complete the third level(the no gameplay level is second, right?), because after I get the nice 2nd Final Fantasy theme secret and killed all enemies then leave there to back the level, I accidently fall to death and must start all over from beginning..man, I hate this shit happens... It's OK but just hate that...

I guess I needed more time to complete the level, but...at least I like the level...
Also those voice from SS2 are good and fit, nice work. xD

Nah, Limbo's supposed to be third (and last level), but for some reason the game lists it as the second. Thanks for the comments anyway. I think the autosave point is fine as you can still explore for secrets if you didn't save before (so you aren't forced to do the boss). As for falling down and dying, well I'm afraid that's your own fault, you should save more often. The 2nd level has 4 chapters and it does save for every "floor" you go down, but I can't make it save before secrets obviously since they're optional.

Yes, that's true. I should careful on that huge level I guess...And that's why I HATE Serious Sam 3 has the save count in level statistics. I just cannot ignore THAT MAX. Value of save count and try to not save too more...

(Sure, I can save more like SS1/SS2 if I want but...due that shit in the statistics so I can't resist...oh, I should hate myself, right?
Also, disable autosaving never helps.)

Dunno why (I don't usually start maps just like that) but I started a new wip survival. Just had an itch to make a small neat survival map.

Very early wip screens with the terrain roughly done, no lighting, plants/walls subject to change:









There will be some sort of a ruin/shrine/open pyramid (maybe indian themed like in SE) in the center of the map supplying you with weapons and stuff. Gameplay will be wave based, you defeat one wave and the next spawns, no infinite spawning enemies if I can avoid it. It'll also be pretty slow paced with weak starting weapons till it progresses further.

At least it's a small map so I can probably finish it pretty fast. Progress on Exception is on a halt for now, I'm gonna release a trailer for it before I resume working at least.

Yeah I forgot to mention, it does use them extensively. I wish I could get a nice custom texture for the cliffs too, but when I tried adding a mesh material override to them like you did, they just turned to one color. Is there a way to find out a model's uvmap name or surfaces?

You sure you used the same model? For me it complains that the Texture uvmap is missing and I only manage to get it to look one weirdly shaded color that matches the texture.

Holeeee crap this looks SEXY. I only added some more vegetation and modeled my own indian pillars and HOLY MOLY. Once I add lighting and fully detail it (haze, godrays) I will probably jizz in my pants.

Another fun thing I found out: you can easily climb the totems by jumping up them. I think I'll keep this glitch as it's very easy to do and ranged enemies can still kick your ass off there.



On top of all that I found the PERFECT, cinematic & natural soundtrack for it also, which I can also legally and with full permission use

Since my creative juices () are flowing progress is already 10%, the small size lets me map really fast for a change. If I'm really fast it could be finished in a couple of weeks or less even.

Do you think I should still change the cliffs' textures? I think the current sandstone-like color adds a nice contrast, though it could look even more tropical with green ivy rock.

Full permission use? Awesome, this is shaping up to be something that I could recommend to Croteam with full confidence.

As for the cliffs, hmm... maybe some more grayer or whiter texture would be better. Maybe even greenish cliff textures.

Well, full permission as in there is no problem adding it to the map as it is provided that I credit the author and the site it was from properly and don't edit the original source (though converting to .ogg is a must, but it can still preserve the tags included). E.g I believe it could be added to the Steam workshop for free download without me having to face copyright problems. Glad that you'd recommend it though.

Seeing that Croteam is yet to make any custom map official I don't see it as a big problem. Also all that copyright bullshit is highly debatable because you can find any materials I've used (for Exception) very easily and for free download/listening elsewhere. If I can't use custom music even when the author has permitted it and the site allows it to be redistributed, then that's just restricting creativity. Not like I could hire an orchestra to do music for my map just like that, and it would still probably be copyrighted.

I'm gonna submit this map to the workshop if it ever gets added. Exception not, since it is too much in the gray zone with YT materials, but this one is definitely possible imo.
