Question Is anyone actually intereted in Terminator Genisys?

I've been seeing trailers for it, and it's not impressive. It looks like a nostalgia-fueled cashgrab for a series that should've been either been put down or rebooted a long time ago. Old Arnie, one of the main selling points, doesn't have the presense that he did back in T1 and T2, the action looks boring, and I won't even attempt to make sense of the plot from the trailer. It fails as nostalgia bait since you can very easily get T1 and T2, so if you want to get your nostalgia on, you can easily watch them instead of going to see an all-new movie.

I just fele the series needs to take a very long rest because it's way too played out at this point.

I recently came across an interactive, animated poster for this movie, featuring Arnie's skin melting away to show the Terminator skeleton underneath, which then pointed a gun at the viewer.

It looked like it was made by a 16 year old who just learned how to use After Effects. If the movie itself is of similar quality, then I'm afraid we're about to see one of the biggest movie flops in many years.

Jurassic World was the sequel people asked for. The new Terminator film feels like the one we didn't ask for. XD

When's the last time we got a Terminator sequel people asked for? 1991?

I watched the two minute trailer months ago and I feel like I watched the whole movie. One of the problems in it is time travel, if you use it to much, like in 5 movies already, it starts to make absolutely no sense. Also from what I saw in the trailer, they mixed all 4 previous movies in this new one, making a huge mess.

T1 was a thrilling, focused, laser cut, unique experience for that time.

T2 was a bit more action packed blockbuster, but still great. It is where the series should have ended, at least going back to past part of it.

T3 was just milking it, with absurd over the top expensive action scenes that would drag along.

T Salvation wasn't what you would call a Terminator movie, but it was OK. I would make it different, the world should have been like shown in T1 and T2, a real post apocalyptic 80s future where resistance is fighting SkyNet and not 2015 US marines who have helicopters and submarines. This is the world I would make 1 or two sequels focusing on the resistance, until they sent Reese back and then leave the franchise to history as a classic, and not a milked franchise.

I didn't even know they were making another terminator film, but like transformers; after 4 films I bet it's gonna be awful.

I think it was aimed at children, considering all the merchandise that came out.

Transformers 1-3 were pretty good but I think it should have ended with 3, then the unexpected sequel comes that I haven't watched yet even when owning the DVD of it.

Haven't seen Dawn of extinction, might not if it's as bad as people say it is.

Salvation is a waste of your time, maybe all but the arnold (Mr. Universe) Schwarzenegger.
Terminator lost it's meaning when Arnie wasn't in it anymore.

Just saw TG today.
I must say, it sucked huge.

If you ever read Thomas Harris' books about Hannibal Lecter (Red Dragon, and Silence of the lambs), and then read the book Hannibal, you would know that Harris completely turned the characters upside down, and made them do things they would in no way have done because of their characters in the first 2 books, THAT is what they did with TG.
They turned both Kyle and John into pussies, got 3 people that can hardly act and made them the stars of the movie, and the only good bits were the old man cop, and Arnold himself.
My wife and her girlfriends liked it, and said it was more of a 'chick-flick' than a terminator movie, and thats why they liked it.
I absolutely think it was one of the worst movies made: starred, directed, set pieces (although there was some good cgi, it was also very hitchy/laggy), and story, all just sucked.

Saw Mad Max, and thought it was one of the best maxes, except there was no real urgency or suspense like there was in the first movie (max running down his enemies while he still could kind of suspense of the first movie).

Just my opine.

It`s not like my opinion is going to have too much weight here but I still want to go out and say that such character critic is hardly relevant here since many of them changed greatly and their new kinda unexpected renditions didn`t just jump out of thin air in the fifth movie. For example wasn`t John a complete pussy in T3 too? And I side with GoG on the notion that the only huge disadvantage of T2 which I consider the best in the series BTW was a single thing and that was a pitiful "pussifying" of Arnie`s "character". He can be on Good(TM) side as long as he "wants" (not literally of course) but how can such an alignment affect his general methods so heavily? I`d still expected him to tear to shreds any human opposition until O'Connor Jr. specifically ordered him to be more preserving in terms of innocent populace. But I guess such opinions are the first to disregard especially if they come from a man who places T3 a tiny bit lower than T2 and can even be considered disliking T1 since is makes for a very very slow and pretty-close-to-lackluster action movie? Anyway I do not care this much since I left the franchise years ago and haven`t seen T4 aka Salvation yet (and still have no plans to do so in foreseeable future mind you). The same probably goes for T5 but why I even continue writing all these snippets of thoughts down? Actually I got tired of people comparing books by Thomas Harris that exact way too when they assume that the second pair of them is way worse than the first one if they liked the latter much more. They might be pretty different (and to add to my weight of sins I prefer Hannibal and even Hannibal rising to Red dragon and The silence of the lambs any time not only because the former ones resemble an ideal of modern adventure flicks to me and generally happen to be examples of nearly perfectly modernized and overall comtemporary novels in the vein of "Count Monte-Christo", etc.) but I don`t see how anyone can venture as far as calling books # 3 & 4 non-canon merely because "Dr. Lecter does things he`d never do based on books # 1 & 2"? Truthfully I call bullshit on such a silly statement too as who are we, total outsiders in his life even if we read entire quartet of novels that provides just a key-hole look at his endeavors, to judge or speculate what goes way too far than his moral code allows and what not? To draw a line here I simply reminiscence his shameless self-boasting a bit. He proclaimed that he can`t be reduced to mere heap or handful of influences which made him who he is in SotL but wasn`t all this blown up by the very same author in HR? Obviously such a set of events is his personal one and on one probably has ever experienced that unique multi-tiered ordeal as he did through the course of entire book but isn`t it way too apparent than all his influnces can definitely be classified and accounted for? Anyway if you want full-blown Lecter fan-fic to blame here and now then there`re 3 seasons of a dedicated TV show for offering ATM. stuff like what you can experience there goes way far from a supposed canon than both traditionally blamed books IE Hannibal & HR have ever strayed from it. But once again since I call RD & TSotL a pretty weak detectives whose only grace and undisputed advantage lies within a sneak-peek into maniacs` life routine and psychiatric origins who is an anonym who named himself in honor of a faceless and nameless FEAR protagonist (or more precisely his role in an operation which takes place there) to juggle such opinions? So off-topic is finally over and you can go on with your Terminator discussion. Best wishes.

Apparently Genisys was/is planned as the first movie of a new trilogy.

If ticket sale match the low-scoring reviews, then this isn't going to happen.

No, a reboot, and first film of a new trilogy.

The issue is that it doesn't feel like a reboot at all from the trailers; it's more like a mixture of Terminator 1 and 2 made 20 years after people were interested in the series and doesn't do anything as well as the first two movies did.

You are basically describing a reboot there. It starts from the beginning (like T1 did decades ago), taking no developed arcs from the past films.

What I'm saying is that it doesn't look like an actual reboot at first glance; the trailers make it looks like a modernized best of the first two Terminators instead of a movie that's starting the Terminator series from scratch. Hell, I had no idea it was one until I saw a post somewhere else call it a reboot.

The new Terminator movie looked terrible to me right when they first revealed it in some magazine.

That terminator looked like he was posing for some toothpaste commercial (Dem white teeth).

Anyway, to me the story ended with T2 and the rest are just some alternate timeline spinoffs. Although I heard there was a fan-edit version of T3 called Terminator 3: The Coming Storm that is more inline with T1 and T2 (More serious, less stupid jokes, etc.). You can check out the full list of changes in here if you're interested. Though I haven't actually seen the movie yet.

I dunno what all the hate there is for but I enjoyed T1-3 fully without having any kind of problems with them, similiar like I have no problems with EP1 of Star Wars. I even enjoyed Jar Jar. I haven't watch T4:Salvation yet and I still have to watch Genysis to know it
