Why don't you send them my way instead. My time is limited and I'm not going to spend it hunting down projects.

I've asked about that on our forum already, so let's just wait a bit for people to answer.

The reason why this particular statement is problematic over pointing out furries is that while furry is just a hobby that people of all walks of life can take part in, being a Russian is an integral part of one's cultural identity that cannot easily be changed.

So here's the kicker, this statement that Russians ruin everything is a product of decades or Russo-phobic bigotry that was started by the Cold War, and still persists to this day due to the Russo-phobic cultural propaganda so ubiquitous in the western world.

These posts are indicative of another problem that exists not only in gaming culture, but in any culture where international communications are involved ; Language privilege.

There are more people in this world that speak Chinese than there are that speak English, does that mean that everyone who makes a mod should make it in Chinese? There are a lot of problematic issues that aren't talked about enough with how English came to become the lingua franca of international discouse, but that is a subject for another topic. (Hint : Before WWII, the international lingua franca was French.) Your argument boils down to "If it isn't in English, then it is not worth consideration." Which, I don't have to explain why is problematic. If you want to read more, then you can check this article out here and educate yourself.

Not only that, it is an incredibly populist argument, appealing to the power of many. This is incredibly disrespectful of the fact that Russian mods are made by Russian people, for Russian people, for the Russian Serious Sam Community.

Let me impress upon you that if if weren't for the Russian Serious Sam communities continuing to make maps and mods for the Classics, there would be no Serious Sam Revolution project, because they were the ones who kept the interest alive.

We love the Russians. We're just waiting for those assholes to love us back.

All kidding aside... racial hatred is against the rules here. What happened to that "don't be a dick" philosophy you were spouting off in the rules thread?

The Russian community has never had much of a connection with ours. If it had I'm sure things would be different than they are now. The facts are that we kind of pushed each other away. Seriously! because of our stance on legality and the Russians because they took offense to that (they probably thought that we thought we were too good for them).

I hope that some day we will all get along and be able to share in the Sam experience together.

Maybe to make a new SS site specially for RUS and ENG mods maps and with using both language?

@SLAwww can't you translate (text) of Russian mods? Or Alexej or Freeknick anyone who knows English. If will be grammar mistakes i am sure here are people which help you.

We tried forming a connection, didn't really work out well. That's when we learned that SeriousSite is as "dead" as Seriously.

It's a pity they are very good in modding Classic Sam...

On serioussite is one cool mod where you can play zombie gamemode, on gz24 will be TDM, CTF with high intelligent bots (they have skills of the best players).

That's funny, because I remember that back in 2012 me and a couple of other guys from s-site had the same idea - to ask Louva-Deus make some sort of a "russian embassy" somewhere here. Though then we kicked this idea off, since a lot of people from s-site are actually too lazy or accustomed to the native site so much that they won't visit s-zone. Also, there's a lot of content on s-site which is very narrowly focused and can be understood only by the local users. And I'm talking not only about the maps and mods - there is was a lot of other content, like very active fan-fiction group, local webzine, videomakers and reviewers (like Ar2R). But it's difficult to optimize such things for the english-speaking users - not because of the language features, but mostly because some people want their projects to be exclusive for their community. I'm sure you have the same situation here on Seriously.

Serioussite has a lot of good mods. Too bad 90% of it is in russian, otherwise it'll be a great website! Its good though.

It's never too late to try. It almost sounds like we need a cultural exchange forum and an even greater focus on bringing the developer community closer together. If we can find a way around the legal issues then it should be good to go.

To get this off the ground I think we would need to put together a team (3 people from each community: russian, italian, gz24, etc) who will act as intermediaries and 'ambassadors' if you will. This team will be charged with the tasks of coming up with some guidelines for content, resources to help developers meet those guidelines, to raise awareness of projects in their respective communities, and whatever else is needed.

What do you think?

The german (or dutch?) site was Philers (http://philer.seriousbase.square7.ne...struction.html) but that's down. He had some great mods.. The japanese site http://rusutaku.s18.xrea.com/ for the mod Rusutaku assault.

and serioussam.nl is empty.
