I am trying to take one of the best models from Serious Sam and put it in Unreal Tournament. *This is fine and easy except for one thing - I need the texture files for the model to be something the Unreal engine can read and use.

#1.) Can I convert a .tex file to a .bmp or .tga or something like it?

--OR--

#2.) Does the Unreal engine perhaps understand .tex files so I wouldn't have to convert them?

Thanks, any response would be greatly appreciated.

Releasing a sam model for another game is illegal, as it is copyrighted material. I wouldn't say croteam would kill ya, as they aren't trippy monsters like iD. oh, and I think editor can convert, somehow.

Yeah, I really don't think you should be doing that, especially on official forums.

I was actually not using there model (entirely), but there skin, and I had no intention of releasing it or giving to the people at Unreal.  Oh well, back to my lame insect model...

Thanks, though.

As far as the generic issue of converting .tex to .tga, check through this site, these forums and other sites listed on this site's main and links pages...... *Somebody released a utility for doing this some time ago.

Here it is....

The best thing to do is go into the serious editor, add the textures to a new virtual tree, and then select them and export them.
