Default Well, put my bug up for trade

After 12 years of working on this, I am tired of it (and, it hurts me).
Even though I love it, its time for us to part ways:

I doubt I will get any takers on the trade.
But, its a first step in seperating the bond, and I will eventually get rid of it, wether selling it, or giving it to my long lost daughter.

LOL
Thanks.

Hehehe

Wish I could go to sleep. but my left arm is all swollen and burning/tingling, and my leg is swollen/hurting.

Dont ever let anyone tell you that once a blood clot is disolved, that all your troubles are over.

Its 4:36am here, and I desperately need to get some sleep.

Someone just offered me $6,700 for it.
I am seriously thinking about the offer.

Yeah, thats what I want.

But, no one is offering to trade (I kinda figured that, since single/double cabs are worth a LOT more than a bus/bug/ghia/etc).

If I get cash, I can either finish my bus project, or save it and save up for a nice single/double cab.

IIRC, it is somewhere in the range of 26-32mpg?
People have put extra's on the engines, to get them to 37-40mpg though.
HotVW's did a whole series called 'Project mileage motor' to try to get the best gas mileage out of them.

Uff, mpg... we not only use kilometers and liters here, but also we flip the values and in addition to that it's not liters per km, but liters per 100 km. Damn those English colonist who spread the wrong English ways around the world

*searches internet for a mpg to l/100km converter*

EDIT: 26-32 mpg == 7.3-9 l/100km

Wow... that seems really backwards, but I guess it's just how you've been trained. It just seems more logical to say "you can go [x] amount of distance with [y] amount of fuel" rather than saying "you use [x] amount of fuel to travel [y] amount of distance". But like I said, probably has to do with the way the brain was trained .

I will agree with the inferiority of the American measurement system. I am an engineer and so most of my calculations are done in metric, a far superior system . Unfortunately, most Americans are too stubborn and many, to put it bluntly, are just too stupid to make the transition. The American government has tried to switch to metric a few times and each time it has failed miserably.

What do you use in school at science/physics class ?

( Is it "in school at class" or "at school in class" ? :/ )

For the most part, science and physics are taught using the metric system. Even at the high school level. The biggest weakness that the English system has is the huge ambiguity to mass and weight.

Many people erroneously use pounds interchangeably with mass and weight. There is pound force (lbf), which is a weight, and (lb) which is a mass. But people always give their weight in (lb), which isn't exactly true. There is also the slug measurement for weight, but it is such an outdated unit that is rarely used by today's standards.

So as you can see, the ambiguity between units does not lend itself well to physics, which requires a HUGE differentiation between mass and weight. Not to mention the metric system is so much easier to translate units, even so far as litres -> cubic metres, it just makes itself so much easier to work with metric.

For the most part, younger folk know the metric system to some extent since it is used in high school science classes. But it is a near impossible feat to indoctrinate the older generations that have been using English their whole lives. Sorry, a very long winded answer to a simple question, and I have succeeded in completely going OT.
