Default Laptop Monitor as Desktop Monitor

As i've posted before, my monitor is screwed. It's still workable.. but I think it may be overheating, but i don't have any extra fans that I could rig up.

So i'm wanting to actually use my laptop monitor for my desktop. I don't care if I have to pipe the data over the network, but I need something.

RealVNC isn't fast enough really. My laptop has linux on it currently, as well.

Any ideas?
