Default Serious Sam 1 remake

Anybody willing to make a remake of Serious Sam 1 on Serious Engine? Something like Black Mesa: Source, a Half-Life 2 modification that totally converts Half-Life 1 to Source.

It's going to be one hell of a job to do that... I could contribute as a mapper.

Well for starters, you'd need CT's permission to do this, as well as a map editor

I don't know why everyone always wants to remake the older games. I thought that SS:TFE/TSE looked just fine by todays standards, and by the standards of SS2. It doesn't need remaking. What are you going to do? Add a few more polys to the enemies? It doesn't need it. Leave it alone.

I'll tell you why everyone wants to remake older games. Because it's a challenge. And a fun one at that. Not only polys; shaders, HDR, higher texture resolution and much much more.

But seeing as how this idea got rejected... Let this thread rest in piece.

I vote for porting gameplay, but leave the maps alone.

The idea is good, but how will you make HDR working on such weak engine as seriousengine? It just will blow up...Besides HDR is only used on engines like Source etc

Serious Engine 2 uses HDR.

I say idea is good, but u are talking a remake of seriousengine 1st which isnt so powerfull enough to handle HDR, and other functions like u want. The idea is very good but if u are going to create it change physycs to, get ODE or something like that

Well well, the process of improving an engine actually includes thigs like making it "unweaker" for such effects and implementing them, no?

How about we mod Serious Sam 2 so that there are the same weapons, and some of the old enemies, and we self remake the old levels instead of ****ing with SE1?

I think the dude above means porting the content from SEngine 1.0 to SEngine 2.0. That´s alot of work, and I´m not even sure if the new engine uses TEX, MDL, WLD etc. formats at all.

But I agree with Thee Goat Pig, I personally even think the SS1 games look better than SS2.

New formats aren't compatible of course, there's just too much new stuff.
The old games would definitely look better on the new engine, that's for sure
It's not the engine that makes the looks, it's the artists (atleast mostly, it's what they make out of the engine.)
And SeriousEngine2 is better in most ways than SeriousEngine (apart from a few things like mirrors, gravity etc...).

I know, but they didn´t give you a good idea what SEngine 2.0 can do with real looking graphics...

I think that the best way to create that kinda mod is create it on new ss2 engine
