Yes, I delete the old one and post this new link... the old one had only i5-7600K rating. This new link has both i5-7600K (up to 5.1GHz) and i7-7700K (up to 6.7GHz).

LOL. Ok, Rider...

I am now all down to ONE PC in my house. So, in about January 2017... get ready guys. Anyways, people have been bad mouthing about Kaby Lake. Partly I agree, being Intel is slow and picking pennies first, where they could have been by now have such new features instead of jumping versions from 1.1 to 1.2. But, since I need to do a new build soon, this is perfect for me (I was going to settle with SkyLake, but didn't have funds).

Coffee Lake is next (after Kaby Lake)? Well, I don't drink coffee, so it's something I can pass.

Frankly, Intel going down further to 10nm (Cannon Lake)? Even that, the 10nm desktop K version will STILL be 95watts.

Intel Kaby Lake is coming! i7-7700K is coming! 2017 is coming!

Just another link... LINK

All seems talking about it is overclocking. When I get it (still plan on it), it's going to run on STOCK speed, even with Z270 MB.

Others can get excited about "upcoming" AMD... what are you gonna to do with 6 or 8 cores? Let alone, what speed would it handle?

I am not sure if I should risk with M.2 or stay with SSD.

At first, planned on water-cooling for the CPU, but apparently air-cooling would be OK for Kaby Lake (again, stock speed). I just would have to make efforts to dust it out more often (have Dust-Off handy).

Should be ready for SS5 (yes, SSV).

And when exactly is it NOT expected that a new processor targeted at the high-end will be one of the fastest processors in the world???

That sentence is about as useful as saying that water is wet.

That being said, on desktop Kaby Lake is nothing more than a clock frequency bump for Skylake, based on the fact that the manufacturing process has matured further. There aren't really any architectural improvements to the CPU part of it.

did they fix the bug where having more cores made the chip overall *slower*, with more threads combined doing less work than lower-end chip with less cores?
This really plagued the Xeon lineup HARD.

As of today... I am still aiming for Kaby Lake (and it's assembly).

Lately, reviews and posts are actually striking Kaby Lake as CPU?

I can understand (and actually agree) that Kaby Lake should subsist as significant better then Skylake. Such as "Tick-Tock-Opimization", it doesn't look like this way, even with Z270 MB paving it's way. I actually passed over Skylake to get the Kaby Lake because of native USB 3.1 and other new features.

As this economy, I am still tight with budget. I could actually wait a bit longer (into 2017 soon anyways). I am sort of now thinking what to do... I know the saying, "if need new PC now, do it now" instead of waiting for ever-non-stopping around the corner technology.

I am sort of feeling fishing that if Intel would ever make it down to 10mn, or even AMD could do too. Even if they do go down to 10mn, what would the speed be then? Same old "4GHz-ish" I really don't care for 6-cores or 8-, 10-cores. If I was doing video editing, I wouldn't have a game or a download running (such anything could happen, including Win10 freezing up).

LGA 1511... short lived?

Nvidia has Pascal... check.
Z270 is coming out... check.
Everything else (PSU, DDR4, SSD, etc) remains pretty much same... check.

@CNT I remember you were mentioning several times in the past that Kaby Lake will be Win 10 exclusive and will not work with Win 7. Well, myth busted I guess

YouTube Video: myth fucking busted :)

LOL

I know Windows 7 may still work... as long using the right drivers, etc. Yet, with now Win10 is jumping with "Windows Hello" and other things pushing (perhaps including DX12), what are we gonna do?

There was no myth to bust. It was long known that it is going to work on Win7, it's just that it won't be exploited to its 100% potential.
Gee wiz.
