![]() I read it's not possible to create new weapons in SSHD/BFE and that you can only really modify existing ones. I'm wondering if SS2 has any notable limitations when it comes to modding it?
I've seen mods for the game that add things like a knife to the game and dual wielding other weapons so I'm wondering if it would be possible to do things like reanimate the weapons or just add new ones entirely. |

![]() Dual wielding was a feature of Sam2 before release, but it still existed in the code base after release. It took coders little effort to bring it back with mods. I think the same restrictions apply to Sam2, but I'm not sure.

![]() Keep in mind though that Serious Sam: Forever used the Serious Sam 2 SDK to modify the game's code base just like InSamnity! 2. The SDK was never made available publicly and has never been made available for Sam HD. Without it your modding options are very limited.

![]() At this time only TFE Classic and TSE Classic. The engine source was also recently released for TSE Classic. The Serious Sam 2 SDK was privately given to a few individuals/teams around 2007-2008 to create mods, but not publicly (not sure why it was never publicly released).
Because of the tight Steam integration and less constricted modding abilities out of the box, nothing after Sam2 has had the SDK and engine source released and I doubt Croteam will do that.

![]() It is about as moddable as SS3 and SSHD:TSE, as far as I know. Which are extremely moddable as well if you just replace existing stuff.

![]() Funfact: Alot of SS2's scripting features were carried over into SS3.
Things like shield properties and Macro animation events XD, that STILL WORK! That arn't used in SS3.

![]() It's a lot more "open" than SSHD, but not as much freedom as SS3. Porting animations is downright impossible; I've never seen anyone succeeded.
