You can't say it's not a room, because it is It just have 4 floors (which are NOT seperated by ceilings )
I didn't have time to improve the architecture, so I'll try to concentrate at gameplay more. Actually it's a short arcade map with 4 mini-missions.

Nice. Those glass walls should be transparent and add a background in
Add a spiraling staircase in, just cut bits of the scenery if they get in the way, and add a rail to boht sides of the staircase

I guess the ammount of time given to us simply just wasn't enough to finish anything at the least impressive or just plain nice looking

What I really wanted of a contest would be "Make a small temple". The rules would be;

1. You can model the outside if you want but there has to be an inside
2. No timelimit
3. Traps if you like
4. Enemies if you like
5. Maybe both 3 + 4
6. There is no 6th rule
7. The contest will finish when all contestants have submitted their work and/or dropped out
8. Map on!


Not that I'm saying "everyone drop out of TwL's contest and join mine". We'll finish TwL's contest first and then I'll make the next one. After that, the winner shall pick the next contest (The only rule for picking a contest would be that it has to be either SS1 or SS2, no other game)

When I create the next one, There will be a listof contestants on the first post. So please PM on your progress (A percentage will do) or if you decide to drop out so I can keep the list up to date

Why don't you both post the unfinished versions of your map, then? It doesn't matter if it's hundred percent complete, if it looks cool and interesting it might even win the contest.

On a second thought, it doesn't really matter if your map is finished or not, anything goes if it's at least somehow playable. If only ChJees' map is accepted, then this contest becomes a total fiasco.

Or maybe the time limit could be increased by 10 more days? Hmmm?

2 Deepblue and others: I ment that SS2 mapping may be called dead if nobody makes his own architecture and does just like Finland-Warrior who uses only CT's models. When the maps have NO originality, it means that the mapping is dead. The same may be said if the custom maps look just extremely lame. I'm not saying that everybody should be as good as me, but NecroViolator's last screen looks more like SS1 graphics, and ChJees room is far from average (too many repetitive stuff and bad texturing). That image Wytas posted also looks more like SS1 graphics.
You may call your maps whatever you want, I'm not forcing you to count my opinion as the only one that's right. But for me all of you would look like that guy who was trying to prove me that CorelDraw is professional texturing prog while Photoshop is not.

The problem is, I didn't really have time to do much yet, so basically all I have is an untextured 120^3 room with some Macro tests

Sorry, but since when exactly are you the best mapper on these forums? TBH, I think Wytas is a far better mapper than you are. Just look at his Haunted Palace map, and I don't think you can disagree with me. Sorry to say this, but you're almost the opposite of Deepblue; where he doesn't have enough self-confidence (work on that Deepblue!), you have too much.

Oh, and this still is a Basic Room contest.

There are people besides the ones in these forums who map for SS2 you know
SS2 mapping will be dead once all mappers stop mapping for it end of story

So please let's stop this and get on with the rest of the competition

Darn. Okay, this is what I meant: Select the ceiling polygon, press Shift+D a couple of times, and then press N so you can deform it, making it look like real rocks

SLAwww, you are a total idiot. You should play my maps before judging them-- are you really saying that Serious Mind has no originality? IMHO it's one of the most original maps ever made for SS2, even if I speak for myself. It's your maps that have no originality- you just try to make everything as complicated as possible until it's overloaded with all kinds of crap that doesn't make any sense, then call it "detailed". And to say the truth, I've always disliked the way you boast about your so-called "skills". Who do you think you are? You always sound like you're the most important person in the whole world, blatantly ignoring everyone else's comments and forum rules. Hell, I even recall you saying my map was great and extremely original when I posted the very first screenies of Serious Mind. Were you just lying straight to my face? You even told me to keep up the crazy work, and I did, and this is the thanks I get?

And FYI, my map does use lots and lots of custom models, enemies, particle effects, music and all kinds of things, dammit! How can you know everything about it if you haven't even bothered to click the tiny download button? People like you piss me off. If there was any justice in this goddamn world, you know what I would do? I'd add a freaking PRICE TAG to my map, so that I could get at least something out of it, not just completely idiotic comments from people that haven't even bothered to play it!

AND NOW YOU SAY IT'S ALL UNORIGINAL; TELL ME, IS THE PLOT UNORIGINAL? THE ARCHITECTURE? THE OVERALL FEEL OF THE MAP? THE BATTLES? THE CONVERSATIONS?! Is it all just damn unoriginal to you? There isn't a single map out there that's unoriginal! Every person has his/her own style of mapping, and you can clearly see it by just playing the particular map!

I dont know exactly which MAP he's comparing my damn hard work to ???
Ive been working on my House/Mansion for over 2 months...
My master piece is awesome because I've worked hard on all Detail 100% MINE hand made everything... Even the Textures 95% are Hand Made by me...
ALL WORK is EQUAL in my eyes... All maps have only different shapes and sizes thats all ...

I almost finnished with the House...

I mean I partly agree that he's a great mapper due to the fact he can do stuff in SED that normally requires coding, but I don't like the way he says he's the best without evidence that people have agreed with him

Yes SLAwww self-proclaims himself as the best mapper and we don't agree. Just ignore him

And SLAwww, quit expecting everybody to be expert modellers from the get-go

This is the reason why I DONT release Maps Online...
Only my friends and family play my maps...
I create something extremely fun for people and either they can come with great suggestions and what not...
Hell, I would LOVE to create a Map with SLAwww...
I dont care he hates my Maps...
BUT when Im creating this HUGE monthly work for release for everyone to play on, dont diss it, enjoy it for what it is, and come with suggestions and help make it better...
Dont just state something negative and not back it up...
I mean dont say "it looks primitive"... Come with suggestions to make it better ...
