Arrow Contest: Design a DM Level!

Serious Sam 2's contest #3
Design a DM Level!
(or Invasion level)

Description
It's a simple and fun contest where the contestant has to download map's template and design it as he/she wants!!

Purpose
To see how different mappers desing the same layout

Plan
Contestant has to design the given map. He has to:
1. Add textures to the already given architecture without changing it's layout.
2. Create new models for map's decoration (at first add stairs, bridges where needed, because in some places the map is unpassable yet ).
3. Add partcile effects, sounds, music, etc..
4. Add lights, bake shadows (not necessary for Simple layout).
5. Put weapons and several "Starts".
6. Create atleast one complex mechanism/macro code (optional, for extra points!)
7. Make the map playable in SS2.

Rules
The rules are fairly simple. Contestant:
1. Can use DM gameplay or INVASION* gameplay.
2. Can't change the already given layout, except for drilling holes that are used for decoration, but NOT for passages. (revised on 2007.02.18)
3. CAN use Croteam's models for decoration.
4. CAN use custom textures/sounds/music
5. Can't finalize the map.
6. Can't exceed 8192 KB size limit (8 MB).
7. There's is no limit for one person. He/She can create more than one map using the same or different layout.
8. Current deadline: 10th March, 2007 (old was: 3rd March, 2007)

*Invasion gameplay - single player/cooperative game where enemies attack you from everywhere and you must kill'em all to pass the map.

Notes
-- Judgement will review maps by categories: simple and advanced. There will be a winner of Simple layout and a winner of Advanced layout!!
-- Request for judges wannabes are welcome
-- Judgment information is beeing published later

There are two layouts. Contestant can chose one of them (or even both!)

I'm in for now, but with no promise that I'll finish it. I'm just in need of a bit of relaxation and I figured making a map again would be fun . I'm going for the complex version for now, looks like a fun layout!

No, you can't change the default architecture (equal rights for eveyone ), but you can add details that cover the poorly made architecture

Ok . So what do you mean with invasion mode then? DM with enemies or Co-Op with infinite enemy spawn and stuff?
By the way, the Complex Template does not feel fnished because you can see a bit of the Architecture outside when you are in the middleroom.

I added some rounder corners, and made the ceiling rocky so it was displaced.. Oh and I suppose I also have to remove the little grating I added? wip picture

Wow, you guys are UNBELIEVABLE!!!
That looks AWESOME!!!
I see that the purpose proves itself. You can see floor in TwL's map, where there's lava at the same place in Armern's map.

After looking at Armern's map I decided that layout changes is seriously needed in some places. So Armern, ChJees, I decided to change rules a bit

@TwL: Two weeks for this contest. If you feel you are not going to finish your map, please send me the unfinished version. It's still better than nothing!

This is my contribution . I were bored today .
My version of this map should keep you busy for 30 minutes .

(You can think this gameplay as a Warcraft III Towerdefense in FPS with Guns .)

Now so does the map meet all requirements .

I started messing around with the EASY (Simple) layout... I get a bunch of "mesh has invalid triangle" errors when I try to save my map.

Can anyone else replicate this error? I'm not sure if the original download has a bug in it or if I somehow messed it up while editing.

I think maybe the errors occured while I was editing, and I only noticed them after I saved the map.

Visually things are coming along nicely, though I think this map is too small to have good combat. May I rescale the rooms before I add my own meshes???

Can I stretch x and z only or must the ratios remain the same?

Nah just kidding. It wouldn't be the same map unless I scaled all the rooms by the same ammount, and kept them all at the same ratio. I actually have some great ideas for that leftover vertical space. This is gonna be kinda cool...

(Just FYI, Wytas, while optimizing the shadow map on the center peice, I found a band of polygons with a y size of 0. Do "Atlas" UV-mapping on it and you'll see a straight line in the resulting UVmap. Those polygons have no height, and thus are never drawn. I recommend deleting them to simplily the mesh.)

aah! I found that bug. And it's cordinates is -16,0,16, like "mesh has invalid triangle" error stated!! You better delete it, even it does no harm, but, anyway.. My fault
