Anyway, modding isn't the same as having the source code. Near as I could tell from the closed alpha/beta the whole resource archive format has been overhauled, making modding much more difficult. Sadly, with the departure of John Carmack, the big advocate of open source jumping ship a while ago I deem the odds of the release of the source pretty low.

From Videos i saw it seems like Glory Kills slows down the Gameplay.

Another Question is, Glory Kills are optional, but what to you see in every Trailer/Gameplay vid?
A Lot use of Glory Kills.

For Modding SnapMap should be used, but SM does not allow you to use Custom created Resources.

But lets wait what time will bring.

It's not really optional. Glory kills makes enemies drop health 90% of the time, so if you're low, you'll need it. Plus it looks fucking sick

Yup, and they are done in half a second. Not to mention, I seen in TB's video, that apparently the "time slow" glory kills use can be also disabled apparently? Because he didn't have that effect, and the glory kills were even more faster. Not slowing the game down whatsoever.

Glory kills are relatively slow for the first few levels (because it's kind of an introduction) and it becomes faster after that

Also I have a theory that the first time you do a specific glory kill it's a bit slower than every time afterwards, but I can't confirm that

Interestingly enough, I also felt that the running speed was somewhat slower-ish in the beginning, but got faster and faster later. I wonder if it's anything to do with the double jump upgrade?

I didn't even play the game, but isn't there some kind of perk/upgrade/rune that speeds up glory kills ? I know I heard someone mentioned faster glory kills.

I don't THINK there's a faster glory kills perk or anything... the ones I remember are like.. enemies are staggered for longer... one allows you to be further away and trigger them... one gives you a speed boost when you get a glory kill...

Sometimes glory kills are situationally bad to use.. that's just how it is.

At least the enemies do not attack you when you are glory killing you thats one thing, but I generally use it to get myself extra items (like Health, or Armor if you have that armor booster rune).

More like, if a feature is disliked, it can be fixed until it is liked. No need to remove it if it can be improved.

I like how people keep blaming ID for stuff, like snapmap not very good, source code not released, bugs, them not responding to players anymore, etc etc etc, since they dont own ID anymore since Bethesda bought them out.
They are just another developer now, like every other developer out there that has to answer to their actual owners/publishers.
Not calling anyone out, as I have seen this all over the Doom forums (which, says bethesda in the url, no mention of idsoftware), in Steam, other gaming forums, review sites (and mostly posts to reviews), just everywhere.

Everyone seems to forget there is no real IDSoftware anymore.

Actually, the Doom 3: BFG source code has been released, and id was already part of Bethesda by then. Not sure about the Rage source code. But yes, great developers are swallowed by terrible publishers and forced to do stuff that's not in the best interest of their player base. EA has its hand up Bioware's ass and uses them as a sock puppet, just like Bethesda is doing with id.

My point is make Glory Kills a optional feature.

Then Buzzy said just make Glory Kills faster, i asked how this changed the gameplay.

And a Shop can't turn a new car in a Racing Car, cause of too much costs.

Well, if you don't need the health that glory kills drop, then they are completely optional. (Except for bosses, I guess.)

I usually perform glory kills when I am usually running low on health. I use the armor boost rune as well quite useful - even 5 points of armor protects me a great deal.

Just finished playing the demo and I must say the new Doom is more than I expected, even though it is just the first level and people say it doesn't present the game well.

You press TAB and what do you get... an almost perfect NETRICSA that I have been waiting for since The Second Encounter, with info about enemies, weapons, environments, tutorials, lore, map, etc. Doom 3 also had a PDA/NETRICSA, but they expanded on it completely, they didn't dumb it down. Take notes Croteam, take notes, this is how you do it.

There are only 3 basic enemies in the demo, but there is some good stuff about them too. The basic possessed/zombie still goes on after shooting off his hands. How great is that ? The movement of enemies is great, they climb up, jump down and just watching an imp is fascinating to me. It is not the same attack animation over and over, it really feels alive, with many different ways it attacks. Do note I have not played any new game, so I am not completely aware how far the games have progressed in that part.

The gory/melee attack are great. They are not just a gimmick with no purpose like in SS3. When you are low on health and ammo, it literally forces you to fight for your survival with your bare hands to get your ammo and health back. And you can't do it always, you need to weaken the enemies before the kill.

The story got me intrigued. There is so little story in this first level, but it makes you ask so many questions. I was afraid I wouldn't like it, because I am a bigger fan of a more story focused Doom 3 than the original games, but if the rest of the game is like this I think it is a great blend of classic Doom and what I liked about Doom3; ton of enemies to shoot, but with occasional PDAs, artifacts and logs to read in a safe corner when you need a break.

And, they (ID Software) are taking control of the MP part of the game, adding 3 more modes to it, and tweaking the gameplay.
Here is hoping that they make it more Quake3 like, and configurable cfg file, and no fps cap.
