Discy doesn't have an imagination. It was stolen by a small mexican boy with no legs or arms and half a face.

Michael Jackson can probably help you with the search.

If the new engine can do all this and still run smoothly on my computer at high detail, I'll deem it the best engine ever

I'm saying this because SS2 runs smoothly on my computer on highest detail with the correct resolution

Run well on high settings? I very much doubt so, the system requirements between SS1 and SS2 are quite a bit different. So don't expect SS2 and SS3 to have similar requirements either.

Same here, even on my native resolution of 1280x1024. I hope they don't raise the requirements too much

They will, it is something called graphics advancing. It is only 5 years since SS1 was brand new and look at the insane leap that hardware has taken since then, now imagine what sort of leap will be taken in the coming years.

Yeah but I still doubt SS3 requires so much power. It's mostly just fighting brainless armies of enemies, and they don't require any uber-realistic AI calculations etc. The game puts sooo much more pressure on the GPU side instead.

As far as I know, the video will be released when Croteam thinks everything has been polished enough. I have no idea when that will be though

Yes, and that is exactly why I doubt a 7950 GX2/X1950 XTX will do the job on high settings, more likely on low-medium.

Instead of developing a new engine, CT should use a premade one. If they didn't spent so much time on SS2 engine, they could have more time for mapping and, in fact, they could've released SS2 much earlier with MUCH less bugs.

Yeah, but is there any engine out there that is programmed to handle the amount of enemies SS throws at you?

And I suppose you would have paid 500 000 $ for them?

I think that, unlike big companies like EA for example, Croteam doesn't have a multi million dollar budget...

The computer game industry is getting insanely massive, so I'm afraid they may be right about the numbers. The license of UE3.0 costs $350 thousand as far as I know.

Ss long as it can handle that many enemies, anything else is good to have, which does not mean that they shouldn't add features

I don't think UE3.0 needs any features to be added.

Funny how you used 'it' right after my post about UE3.0, so I thought you were adding to that subject; better use nouns more.

Actually, I think that is quite unlikely. I'm pretty sure it will perform somewhat good.

Yes, unless it takes another four years for SS3 to be released. Which is unlikely as well.
