Default Problem with Exporter!!!

I can't seem to get the exporter to work
Here is the problem.

On the instructions for the exporter it says;

"1. Setup environment variable, ENGINE_DIR, to point to where you installed Serious Sam game folder, e.g., C:SeriousSam."

I have no idea how to setup an environment variable. Is it setup in the track view? If anyone has tested or used the MAX exporter please let me know what I need to do to setup this environment variable thing.

Depends on your OS.

If it's windows 98, click Start then run, type in sysedit and hit enter.

Choose the autoexec.bat window and add a line at the end that says:

SET ENGINE_DIR=C:\SERIOUSSAM

if thats where your Serious sam dir is.

If you have Win 2000 right click my computer, select properties, click the performance tab, then click environment variables, new, then in the top box type in ENGINE_DIR and in the bottom the path to your Serious sam dir.

OK what about Windows XP?
EDIT: Nevermind, I just tried the Windows 2K way you mentioned and restarted Max and it works now.

Default Willing to tackle orientation problem

Hi all,

I've been working on the Maya version of the SKA exporter, but had to can it due to time-restrictions in our project. (The source is freely available for anyone who wants it btw). We are not using Maya for our project so it was considered a waste of time and I had to drop it.

However, it did prime my SKA knowledge, which may be useful : the problem stated in the Readme.txt about the bone orientation problem sounds very familiar, I ran into the same problem with Maya, the bones all stuck out in stead of being nicely aligned.

Among other things, the morph was something I didn't get around to either, but I am willing to have a go at the fix for the orientation and implement the morphing. We DO use Max, so that is allowed within the time-scope of our project.

I already have all the SKA docs and specs, read them and used them, so if someone here could act as my contact to the people who developed the MAX version this far, I am more than willing to spend time on perfecting the code.
